Customer Reviews 11 Customer Reviews Average 4.5 out of 5 Cullen R Overall a very nice .22, especially considering the price. The heavy barrel looks impressive, and the it is quite accurate. At the range, I discovered the rear eyepiece on the scope was loose, and I'm very sure this one was not bore-sighted as it was way off. Both of these things were quickly rectified though. The poly stock is farily sturdy, except for the forearm which does have some side-to-side give in it. As always, Bud's service and shipping were excellent! 1 year ago Bud E This is my review of a Savage 29200 MKII-FVXP 22LR Ser. # 2476xxx from Buds Gun Shop. It was delivered this week and I took it out to the range this morning. Iā%uFFFD%uFFFDm seventy-six and have been buying Savage firearms since I was about forty. Ive always bragged about them. Not so with this rifle. I am extremely disappointed.
I field stripped it and cleaned it when I first got it home. The bore was full of black crud. Took me about fifteen minutes just to clean the bore. Took it out to the range this morning. It was supposed to be bore-sighted. The horizontal cross hair was canted about thirty degrees below the horizontal plane to the right. I had a six inch shoot-n-see target centered on a 24x36 inch cardboard backing. When looking at the shoot-n-see target through the bore at fifty yards the scope was not even on the cardboard. I was shooting 40 grain round nosed CCI mini-mags and was using sand bags. The best group I could get at 50 yards was about two inches. At 100 yards the groups opened up to about four inches. With groups centered (more or less) about two inches above the aiming point at 50 yards the point(s) of impact was about 10 inches low at 100 yards.
Besides that I had a great deal of trouble getting the cartridges to feed from the magazine. The first (top) cartridge was always the worst and many times I could not get the bolt to close.
I must repeat that I have never, ever had a Savage rifle that performed so poorly 1 year ago Show More Reviews...
