At 75 years old the Henry 243 is my kind of rifle. Good for target, varmint and with a heavy load is good for mule deer and black tale deer inside of 200 yards… How often does anyone get more than one shot at a deer or a mountain goat….

It is beautiful. It is pre-WWII classy. Typically pretty Henry wood. Trigger a little stiff but clean and workable. Might ease up in time. Probably weighs a 1/2 lb too heavy for a 243 that is tailored more for deer than varmints. Mine shoots MOA with Norma Whitetail. Not at all stunning for a varmint 243, but perfection for whitetail. Has a bit of muzzle jump. Love the irons sights. I believe all firearms intended to pack in the backwoods should have iron sights as a safety net, even if though I don’t plan to use them. The price is the real hook in my estimate. So far as I am aware, it has no single shot competitor in its’ class. The Ruger No.1 and the Merkel K-5 are certainly incredible, but for $2K and $5K respectively they won’t be one of my lovers anytime soon. The CVA and TC single shots are fine guns more tailored to hunters that don’t take the time to smell the roses when afield. It will certainly stay in my harem. Anyone that gets a peek in my safe is drawn to it.

Excellent firearm. This is number 5 of this model rifle and every one is a champ and has great wood.

Nice, lighter weight, handy rifle. Beautiful wood. Trigger breaks clean at 6 lbs. Delightful to shoot.

Picked up another Fine Henry Rifle from Bud's this one is in 243 Winchester.
To add to my Collection of Henry's in Blued Steel Lever Actions and Shotguns.
Got another Blued Steel Single Shot a coming at the end of this May as it is in Lay-Away at Buds
Hopefully won't have any issues or Problems getting it Due to all this Covid-19 Going on's.
Other than that Bud's is a Great Place to Get all Your Firearms Needs.
Speaking of Need . Lol -
AS I need to Pay my Dues for my Team Bud's Yearly Membership as they have expired.
But I will hopefully soon. As I have used Bud's Guns for Years Now. Good People to Work with..

The cons youll hear about regarding these rifles are that the stocks are low grade wood. That the wood doesn't stain well, doesn't have appealing grain, has knots, the forearm color doesnt match the buttstock color, etc. That may all be true. However it was not true for the one I received. The one I received is one of the nicer stocks I have. I wish I could take a picture to prove it. Another complaint is an overly heavy trigger. I have this in 45-70 as well. I dont find either trigger to be heavy. The first part of the serial number will be the caliber, the second part will be SSR and the third part will be what number the rifle is in the run for that caliber. Fit, finish, form and function are all excellent especially for the price. Henry was smart to get into the single shot space and they were even smarter to make a quality rifle. A+ for Henry and Buds A+ for you.

Have not gotten the chance to get to the range yet but initial impressions are very good. Quality, fit and finish is what you would expect from a Henry. Very well-made firearm. Cannot wait to get it out and try it.

Love this little dandy. Bought it for my youngest grandson, took it out after shooting it a couple of times (spot on from the box) & got a deer first thing. Very easy to load, shoot n clean.

I had been looking for a Henry single shot in .243 Winchester for a couple of months with no success, I found one at Buds so I chanced ordering sight unseen. Was I ever pleasantly surprised when it was delivered and I had a chance to see it. The fit and finish was outstanding, functioned smoothly with no slop or side ward movement with the action opened and locked up tightly when closed. Unlocking and and closing the action is smooth and nothing needs forcing to operate. The metal finish is smooth and has consistent color throughout. I had read a lot of criticism about the trigger weight, While it is not a match trigger, it breaks cleanly and consistently with no creep or grittiness. The wood to metal fit is top notch and the finish smooth, The color and figure of the black walnut rivals the extra fancy wood on my Shiloh Sharps saddle rile. You wouldn't believe a $350 dollar rifle would have such nice wood.
With quality ammunition and the Leupold 1.5to4X20 I use on it it will maintain MOA 100 yard groups if I do my part. I like single shots and the overall quality and value for the dollar this rifle has I plan on ordering a second Henry Single shot in .308 from Bud's in the near future.
