Can this firearm still take 30 round mags?

yes it can take any 308 AR10 style magazine or drum magazine

First of all, I am new to deer and boar hunting and using long guns, pistols I know. I am interested in using an AR style 308 for this purpose and am curious if this would fit the bill. As per reviews, Windham makes a reliable and long lasting weapon. Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also, what day scope and night scope works well with this rifle? Hi Brent, this rifle in 308 is more than sufficient for deer. You will need to locate some 5rd magazines for most locations to be "legal". Any standard 308 hunting load can be used as well. Deer loads of 155gr to 180gr hunting loads will get you your venison. I currently use an 18" Anderson Hunter model in 308. Use a Solid Copper like the Barnes TSX for boar and you will have no issues bringing them down. I recommend the Primary Arms 4x14x44 ACSS Scope w/308 Reticle. Inexpensive, clear glass and very effective range finding.

The .308 is a great all-around deer,boar,elk,bear etc. caliber. AR Style rifles are becoming very popular for hunting rifles. They are 200 yard guns. If you are shooting further than that, I suggest a bolt action rifle.

Upon closer inspection (at home, after accepting the transfer, of course), I found the handguard offset from the barrel approximately 1/8" at the muzzle end. It appears to have a slight twist or bend in it. Had I noticed this before accepting the transfer I would have declined it and had the gun returned. I am in the process of finding out what to do next. Hopefully this won't be the major headache I expect it to be.

This AR-10 is great! It got here in just a few days and it is as accurate as you could hope for! I am a big fan of Windham ARs because I have never had anything but excellent performance from them. I am totally satisfied and pleased with this purchase. A great rifle sho nuff!

The Windham Weaponry in 308 was a great value. I cleaned the rifle prior to shooting and noticed how tight everything fit. The shoulder stock adjusts easily without binding or sticking. I shot 150 grain Hornady reloads and accuracy was excellent. The trigger is typical AR15 style and an after market trigger would be a nice upgrade. The stock trigger is still good providing the shooter does his part. The Hogue grip provides an excellent surface and the Midwest fore arm allows future accessories without biting into your hand. You could spend more for a rifle like this but you will have to justify if there is any added value for the money spent.

Good rifle and accurate. Definitely need to change out the buttstock. The one it came with leaves the shoulder a little sore after a while. Also having trouble with the free float rail coming loose. I'm in the middle of moving but I will probably end up sending the rifle back to Windham once I get settled.

I've had this Windham for 10 months now and continue to be thrilled with it's performance. Light weight, accurate and 100% reliable thus far. I did upgrade the trigger and add iron sights in the beginning, and have since added a 3-9 rifle scope. The fit and finish on the rifle have proved to be excellent and the accuracy with various factory loads has been very good, easily averaging 1.5" at 100 yards. A couple loads cut that in half. Simply a nice handling, nicely put together 308 at a fair price. Thanks Windham.
