[5 of 5 Stars!]Nice Revolver!
This makes +26 guns & actions I've purchased from Bud's so it goes without saying that I trust them for all my firearm purchases! THANKS BUD!!!
Taurus firearms are often thought of as being hit & miss as far as quality & workmanship are concerned. However, they seem to be getting back to the high-quality they once enjoyed before the election of Nov. 2008. If you look through all the reviews of a particular Taurus gun, you'll notice that most of the disparaging remarks seem to have diminished over the past couple of years. This revolver is testament to the pre-09 Taurus I remember. The cylinder is still a little sloppy in the cocked position on the revolver I just received but that seems to be normal these days. And yes, I'm old enough to remember what a new revolver looked like and functioned like in the 50's & 60's. To be sure, this M44 didn't come from S&W's custom shop but it's a good solid revolver with a an excellent DA & SA trigger pull (no creep or grinding with a crisp let off). I only fired one box of PPU's 300 gr. JSP this morning but it was enough to ensure it's functionality. It went BANG each and every time I pulled the trigger with absolutely no issues! Accuracy at 25 yards was exceptional for an old man like me and the felt-recoil with this big heavy factory load was no more than a .357 Magnum in a 4". Indeed, this heavy M44 absorbs most of the recoil and the sight radius on it's 8.375" ported barrel greatly benefits shot placement. The pancake-type grips on this large frame revolver isn't the best and I've not been able to locate a replacement. Still, it's good enough. However, it's a knuckle buster so be sure you wear shooting gloves or a Band-Aid on your middle finger to absorb the recoil from the exposed trigger guard. All said, this is a really nice Taurus product and I would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a nice target or hunting magnum.

[5 of 5 Stars!]Great gun and extremely accurate! Be sure to check the cylinder chambers for a rifled appearance at the throat. I didn't notice it when I picked it up at my FFL. This caused the shell casings not to extract. I shipped it back to Taurus and they polished the chambers and I had it back within 3 weeks . It has performed flawlessly since. Also the stock grip was a little thin in my opinion but I put a Hogue grip on and it feels much better. Also if you buy it be prepared to have to shoot it on the rifle range. I've been told twice to move off of the indoor pistol range due to the barrel length lol. I'm not joking people. If I had to do over I would have gotten the 6 inch barrel instead due to this and plus the gun is a bit heavy but very manageable. This gun is an eye catcher and draws a crowd though! I've got mine polished to almost a nickel plate appearance and it looks very sharp! Also I'd like to clear something up on a review I did on the Hogue grip on this website. The instructions for installing the grip are vague but I contacted Hogue and the told me what I had to do and the grip fits perfectly now. I just wanted to set the record straight and this site will not let you write more than one review and you can't edit your review once it's posted.Show More Reviews...
