I have been an avid collector of handguns for about 4 years now, and have had 11 different ones, at one time or another. There have only been 2 that I have ever hated. This is one of them. I bought this gun on a whim, as a family member has one, and raved about it. To each their own! As soon as I got this out of the box, I had problems. It was packed in about a pound of grease, and the takedown lever kept sticking, so I could not field strip it without a maximum of swearing. The magazines BOTH had bad springs, so that every time I tried to load more than 5 rds, they just collapsed loosely. Ans this gun is heavy, with a grip a gorrila would struggle to get their hands around! I kept this gun long enough to put 250 rds through, to see if things improved. They didn't. So I traded it for a Glock, and was much better for it.

I purchased this gun from buds gun shop in March of 2010 and it has spent more time in the mail being sent back to Taurus for repairs then it has in my possession. I had great service from BUDS and will purchase again but it is very unlikely that it will be a Taurus product. In my first review I mentioned that there was a trigger problem, well after that was fixed there was a spring that broke, then a screw that broke free from the frame in addition to the peal grips breaking after 100 rounds twice in a row. After the grips broke the second time, they tried to repair the frame which was a mistake because it didn't hold and now they are now asking me to have the nearest FFL dealer fax a copy of his license to them because the factory is sending me a new gun with the same serial number. I don’t understand why they won’t just send it back to me directly like they have the other 3 times, this basically means that I have to pay the FFL dealer a fee (again) for the same gun. NOT HAPPY! When I get this NEW gun from the factory I’m going to trade it as fast as I can for something else without even firing it so it will hopefully have a little more value since it will be brand new in the box and never fired. I’m going to stick with a Ruger or a Smith and Wesson so I will have something that I can feel good about keeping next to the bed instead of a FedEx hot potato.

I purchased this gun from buds gunshop in March of 2010 and buds was great they sent me info via email as to to status of my order as well as tracking information once it was shipped. I priced this gun at several local gun outlets all of which wanted about $100 more then what I paid at buds I'll be shopping with buds in the future. When I recieved the gun it was nice and clean and not a scratch on it and it is truely a great looking gun! Even the guy at work who is not that crazy about guns said if he was going to buy a gun he wanted it to look like this one! I took the gun apart and cleaned it before taking it to the range just so I know that it was in ship shape. After chambering the first round and pulling the triger nothing happened then when I pulled the trigger the second time the gun fired normally with no FTF or FTE's until the clip was empty. I loaded another clip and the same thing when I pulled the trigger the first time nothing then the second time normal function. I took it apart cleaned it again but still the same problem. I will admit I was very disappointed since the gun was brand new out of the box and didn't function properly. At first I thought maybe this gun has some kind of Califonia safety on it that requires you to pull the trigger trwice because other then that it did great(funny huh)! After reading the owners manual very carefully it informed me that the gun was indeed malfuntioning. So I called Taurus and the costomer service rep was very nice and said that this problem was a new one for him and he had been there for 10 years and thought he had heard them all until he got my phone call. He had Fedex at my door to pick up the gun the very next day at no cost to me and over nighted the gun to Miami. So for now I'm going to rate this gun low on the bud scale, however I like the look feel and construction of this gun so I will write another review when I get it back from the factory and try it at the range again. I hope this was just a fluke and that Taurus does a good job on it because other then the trigger problem I really liked the gun.
