Interesting story with this pistol. I got it and took it to the range. 1st magazine ran flawlessly. 2nd mag I shot 3 rounds no issue and the 4th CLICK. I checked for malfunction and nothing. I re-cycled the slide and it shot. The 5th shot went click. Rinse, repeat...I was pissed. I reloaded my 1st magazine that ran flawlessly and experience the same issues. I called Rock Island and sent the pistol back to them. Weeks later and very nice lady called me saying the pistol was 'beyond repair' or something like that and offered to replace the pistol with A: The Rock Island 12 Gauge AR-15 looking shotty or B: The metal frame 22TCM with 9mm barrel and magazine kit which costs technically $250 more than my MAPP....but RA would just give it to me gratis. I took option B and didn't look back. Great company that stands behind their products. I miss the MAPP but I love the replacement I got. Win. Win.

Received firearm without delay. Smooth transfer and acceptance of the pistol. First outing at range got several looks and a inspection by the range master. This round absolutely rocks. 25 and 50 yard groups were well within center mast perimeters. I couldn't be happier with the pistol and the service. Cost of the round is a little bit pricey, but I will continue to purchase .

For years, I had wanted a .22 TCM. I love light, fast, bottlenecked pistol calibers (think 7.62x25 Tokarev and .357 Sig), but I didn't want yet another 1911. When I first learned of the MAPP, I purchased it right away. Never regretted it.
Upsides:
This pistol, and its attendant caliber, are a load of fun. .22 TCM 9R is flying out at an advertised 2000 fps. Muzzle flash is enormous. Recoil, as you might expect, is very very low. Carries 17 rounds in the mag. It is ergonomically the most comfortable pistol I've ever fired (and I collect Browning Hi-Powers).
Downsides:
The 9R blammo is almost prohibitively expensive ($0.53/rd) and Armscor--the pistol's manufacturer--is the only maker of the ammo...and I don't suspect anyone is going to pick up the slack. I'm not a reloader, but I do love my oddball calibers, and I have to pay the price--literally and figuratively--for that hobby, especially if nobody is producing the ammo. (Just had that happen with 9mm Largo for my Star Super and Astra 400.)
NOTE: This pistol only uses the 9R ammo that was specifically designed for it. It cannot cycle the standard .22 TCM rounds like the RIA 1911s can. Standard .22 TCM ammo can be found for "only" $0.30-$0.40/rd even though Armscor is its only manufacturer. Wouldn't it be nice if the MAPP fired the standard round? :-/
I had several soft-strikes that I need to address since it's a hammer-fired pistol and this shouldn't be happening. My friends had some FTE, but I suspect they were limp-wristing it; I did NOT have that problem.
Conclusion:
It might seem like the negatives outweigh the positives on this one, but I have no regrets about adding this pistol to my collection. It's really fun.

This is a nice firearm although it is bit heavy. Shots produce a large blast and quite a fireball. With the weight of the gun and the ammo it fires there is very little recoil. First time out it drew a crowd of people. Second time out I did experience several FTF. The 22TCM9R ammo I was using came from 2 different lots. The brass cases I had no problems. The nickel plated I experienced several FTF which doesn't make much sense. All the ammo eventually did fire fine though. Will keep an eye on this. Would definitely buy this gun again. Ammo can be difficult to acquire so stock up when you find it. Mine came quickly to my local FFL.

This gun is junk. I excitedly took it to the range the day after I received it only to find it misfires about every other round. I had repeated failure to fires where the firing pin would dimple the primer, but it would not fire. VERY DANGEROUS. I finally learned to repeatedly cock the hammer and sometimes it took 3 tries to get the round to fire off. I was shooting official Armscor ammo, that by the way if VERY difficult to find. Zero local stores had it and very few online stores have it. Even Buds didn't have it when I purchased the gun. If that wasn't bad enough, it would jam while feeding, regularly. So, I contact Rock Island about the issue and they now want me to send the firearm back to them for 4-6 weeks for repair. So, brand new gun, ship back and be without it for 4-6 weeks. Since I'm stuck with it I guess I have no other options. I'm posting this to heavily discourage anyone from purchasing this hunk of junk. I read similar reviews on other sites, but assumed RI would have worked the kinks out. I was wrong. As another reviewer said "this thing is a fail-o-matic".

I attempted to shoot the pistol the first time and had several failure to fire and double-feeds in the first magazine. I cleaned the pistol again and still had the same results. When it does fire it's an impressive gun. Several rounds had a dimple where the firing pin hit but not with enough force to fire the round. I shot less than a box of ammo and have contacted the company and am waiting for a response.

First off, the pistol is a little heavy but that is OK because it's smaller size compensates for the little extra weight. The machining is excellent, I own two other RI firearms and have never had disappointment with their quality. The fact that this is 22 TCM9R and not just the plain 22 TCM is a little disappointing due to the fact that when I attempted to load the one magazine that comes with the firearm with the standard 22 TCM rounds they do not fit, they are just a teeny weeny bit longer, I did see this when I searched the web for more information regarding this pistol so I wasn't really surprised. The 9R version of the ammo is a little cheaper than the standard, and once I get some I will see how they perform in both this pistol and the combo version that I own and really like. It's too bad that no where did I see anyone state (even the manufacturers site) that this pistol required only the 9R version of the round to operate. It seems to me that since Armscor has been promoting their TCM ammo for several years now that they would not throw a wrench into their works and create another unpopular round. Of course since they are going to make slides and barrels for a few of the more popular 9mm handguns on the market today it's only natural that they would develop their own version of a good quality handgun. I do look forward to shooting this pistol, and expect no problems, if it proves to be a reliable shooter I intend to carry it. I would carry the 1911 version but it is just too big for me to comfortably conceal. I would recommend this firearm to anyone who wants a powerful yet minimal recoil weapon. I might buy the standard midsize the 51915 model that is currently out of stock at Bud's once I see it available again, an inch bigger but it's not what you got but how you use it. Bud's was as always great, fast shipping. Now if they would only get rid of that 3% up charge on credit cards...

Very pleased with the purchase of this pistol. 200+/- rounds and no failures. The 22TCM9R is a very powerful round with a booming report and vivid muzzle flash. Accuracy has been great. I can easily drop 16 rounds rapid fire into a 6-8" pattern at 50 feet. Shooting in a range booth is an experience as it has a substantial shock wave. Recoil is light, grip is very comfortable easy to handle. With the 39gr ammo a full mag is still very light and easy for carry. As far as Bud's goes this is my first firearm purchase and all went very smooth. Good price, fast shipping. About as good as it gets. I'll use Bud's again.

I purchased the 22TCM9R and the transfer and initial inspection went well. When I returned home and broke the firearm down for cleaning I discovered that there were no markings (white dots) on the rear sights which without changing out the rear sites the weapon would be close to negated in low light situations. I have contacted Armscor for resolution, but they have no mechanism to fix this outside of exchanging the firearm for another that is either a different caliber or a full size version to get the dotted rear sights. I really like this handgun as a light EDC alternative to my 9mm compact but may have to exchange it for the 9mm and purchase the TCM kit to bring it back to the 22TCM9R caliber. If you have no problem with blacked out rear sights this is a great purchase. If you like or need a three dot sight pattern don't bother with this hand gun, go for the TCM 1911's. JW Hinton
