All the S&W single/double are out of stock. I'm trying to replace a 5906 that I realized too late was the best pistol I ever owned. Why are we advertising out of stock items?

Hi Hans, Buds does periodically get these S&W pistols in trade or outright purchases. They are then resold in Buds used firearm category. I agree that once sold Buds should remove the listing.

the S&W 4586 is out of production I suggest searching the major auction sites like Bun Groker and Auns Gmerica swap 1st letters

I am very sad that the days of the 3rd Gen S&W are over, this was a solid, reliable, and durable gun.

I acquired this from Bud's waaay back in July of 2010, but was only today asked for a review. Ok. I was looking for a S&W 4506 (ala Miami Vice) but when this popped up on Bud's website (and at a really good price, too), I jumped on it. I bought both this and a 5906 at the same time. These 3rd-gen stainless S&W's are built very well, the 4586 being a size down from the full-sized 4506, and double-action-only (DAO). There's still support for these old-timers (mags, parts, etc.), if not as much as, say, a 5906. It's a weighty carry piece, but that weight helps when you actually get into using her to throw lead. Lastly, the entire transaction with Bud's was nice and trouble-free.

Got the gun as advertised. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice it was. A touch of rust on the rear sight, but nothing bad. Nice heft to it and the trigger is nice and smooth. Can't wait to take it to the range (if I can ever find ammo). Was very pleased at how fast Bud's shipped this. Would not hesitate to buy from Bud's again.

Just rec'd the Police Trade-in 4586......took to the range today and was pleasantly suprised.....this 4586 is more accurate than me....really nice shooter,,,love the hardly noticed recoil....take-down disassembly is a breeze....I was going to get another 45cal...Ruger P345 but I think I'll get another 4586....I really like the DAO as the trigger is smooth as silk....did have a problem as it came with 2 mags as advertised....but one of the mags was a 9mm....Derek is sending me another 45 cal mag for the 4586 and a mailing label to send the 9mm mag back....Buds is honest people and I take back anything I previously said negative about them...I will order more guns as time goes by....
