Are both barrels steel shot compatible?

John, from Mossberg -- Barrels with an interchangeable Accu-Choke™ or Accu-Mag™ choke tube system, yes (with proper tubes installed.) from what I understand an (read from the provided link " both barrels are fine with steel I understood it as OLDER barrels either select choke or fixed choke should not use steel but Newer barrels both accu-choke and fixed are fine. however you should not use steel through a full choke barrel I would contact Mossberg and ask to be sure Tel: (203) 230-5300 | 8:00am-4:30pm Eastern

Can the 28inch barrel fire slugs? Sorry kind of new to the shotgun world so I'm a little confused about the difference between the barrels other than length of course.

You can definitely shoot slugs out of that barrel. I recommend it because it is fun. Thanks.

Jonathan - Yes, indeed, you can fire slugs in this shotgun. If you're looking for a bit more accuracy, you might consider a rifled coke tube made specifically for slugs - especially if you are going to sue the gun for deer hunting, etc. The rifled choke tube is available for a fraction of the cost of a rifled barrel, and in my experience, after a bit of ammo experimentation, can provide some very good groups out to 100 yard or even a bit more. Jonathan, The barrels can shoot any 12ga ammunition out of 12 ga barrel depending on use or non use of chokes. A non restrictive choke (cylinder choke) will handle any slugs you want to fire with longer barrel and no choke on shorter barrel.

Using the Improved Cylinder choke in the 28" barrel should do well with slugs, the Full or Modified chokes would be bad news with slugs. The shorter barrel is just cylinder bore with no chokes at all and the only other real differences besides the length is the long barrel has a vent rib.

Jonathan, Since pistol grip incorporates with regular stock no issue. Buy with confidence if you are 18. That is limit for long gun purchase. Enjoy, and next year you can get your first handgun at 21.

the age to purchase it is 18 there is no difference with the pistol grip as it is still a shotgun. You can verify this with your local FFL as he would be the one doing the transfer paperwork

Yes. There are actually a few manufacturers that have inserts from 12ga to .410, for around $20. But you still have the 12ga barrel.

Mossberg quality. Mossberg consistency. The shotgun arrived in great condition and works well. 100 rounds of #6 shot through it with zero issues. Barrels swap out with no problems and converting to pistol grip is easy. If you're a hunter/target practice owner with a need for a home defense tool, the 2 in 1 is a great option.l

The transaction with Buds was flawless. I actually bought this gun using the lay-a-way and the minute I made the final payment, I received an email saying the deal was done my gun would be shipped very soon. Smooth. The gun itself is more like a Maverick 88. It has a cheap hollow plastic stock and forend and a plastic trigger and trigger guard. Should have researched a bit more but it is what it is. Still a Mossberg. We will see.
