First I want to say "Thanks" to Buds Gun Shop for making the purchase easy, hassel free and perhaps most of all a secure online purchase. The purchase was problem free, went directly to my FFL on time and everything was a snap. The Kimber 1911, Custom II (GFO) 10MM model in all black with rubber grips was everything I hoped it would be. Pistol arrived in flawless condition, I field stripped it, inspected and cleaned it prior to heading to the range. Almost zero left over mfg crud. No burrs to clean up, tolerances were very tight, no slop in the slide, sights were close to being right on. Based on previous Kimber 1911 experience, I was expecting a roller coaster break period, but knock on wood, so far, so good with 100 rds through the Kimber. While using a Kimber mag the pistol cycled with no FTF or FTE issues. I fired 50 rds each the first two times to the range with no issues using standard 10MM FMJ ammo, slow fire and some rapid fire. I did fire a few heavy duty loads, ie 200 gn bear loads with no issues as well. Field stripped and cleaned again between range trips. Trigger came in at 4.5lbs right out the box and based on previous experience, I expect that to decrease with break in. Felt recoil is on par with a .45 cal 1911. The pistol has a nice heft to it which helps soak up the recoil as well. Even with the heavy loads I noticed it was much easier than expected with follow up shots, acquiring the target quickly was easy. Very pleased with this Kimber so far. There is currently a wide variety of 10MM ammo available off the shelf as well reloading components. Yes, I would and have recommended this purchase to friends.

Nice 10 mm 1911. Shoots well seems happy with many different types of ammo. Good value.

First of all Kimber isn't what it was 15 or so years ago. That being said, the fit between slide and frame is very tight. Some say that's good and others say bad. I've shot sloppy 1911s that would do better than I could. With 10mm tighter is better. Finish is good, clean and complete. No marring or scuffs. Finishing was a bit of an issue and this is where I realized Kimber isn't what it was. The Kimber I remember was had fit and finished.
Placing them above production guns but still affordable compared to an Ed or STI but I digress. There were a few burs in the slide and one in the frame. None of them impede function and were easily cleaned up. Sights are good and the green fiber front is easy to aquire. I had watched a few reviews on the web before I decided on this make and model. Primary complaint was that the front sight "flew off" or otherwise fell off after the first 100 rounds or so. I have 100 rounds thru my specimen without such an occurrence. The black rubber grips had to go however. Nothing inherently wrong with them I just didn't like the look. Smooth front strap should be checkered which would aid in controlling the 10mm but this isn't a problem a bit of sandpaper or grip tape can't fix. Sights are pretty well set as my accuracy was really good considering it isn't a match grade barrel. 5 three shot groups measuring no more than half an inch and 2 were a single ragged hole at 25 yards. (First time out with it). I figure it runs 1" left and 1" high of POA. Which is very much inside margin of operator error. I had a few fail to feed which I determined was the slide hanging up a bit on the disconnector and with some polishing should smooth out, I don't anticipate further failures. The weight really helps tame the 10. Surprisingly so. Actually making it my new favorite 10mm in the safe. Trigger is your typical 1911 trigger. Very little take up and feels nice and smooth. A bit of polishing and some adjustments and it will be awesome. Using my trigger gauge it breaks consistently at 5.5 lbs. I would say this about comfort, the beaver feels narrow for some reason or maybe I'm used to the feel of my 45. Unsure in this regard. I will eventually replace it so it's not an issue. I would recommend the Kimber Custom ii 10mm to anyone. I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a hunt but the limited capacity would likely see me take something with higher capacity but that is definitely a situational consideration. All things considered it is a great production 1911 chambered in 10mm for under $1000. Can't beat it at this price point I'm sure. Personally I will replace every single piece except slide, frame and barrel with the Bullet Proof line from Wilson Combat. No specific need to, it's just what I do.
As far as Buds goes.... GREAT FOLKS OUT THERE. Will get my business again.
If you are reading this review you know you want one so just do it. No regerts! Lol

I received my Kimber 10 promptly and in perfect condition. FFL site who did the transfer was quite impressed with the gun themselves and commented that it was a beautiful gun. I had seen a few poor reviews before I opened the gun due to feeding issues but my own luck with the prior 5 or so Kimbers I have ordered have been quite good. Regardless of history the gun was perfect. I fed it 2 different weights and brands of ammo and it fed and shot perfectly. Gun appears very well built, tight fit, very accurate and in all just perfect enough to make me a happy consumer. thanks to Buds and Kimber for selling and backing such a great gun.

Simply Awesome! Typical Kimber quality and tightly fitted. I wish Kimber supplied more than one magazine however the factory mag did run flawlessly, as did others including Ruger, Mec-gar and Checkmate (Remington). That fiber optic front sight really does pop outdoors, combined with a tightly fitted barrel and bushing this Kimber is amazingly accurate. Beats my Springfield hands down. Has a single full length guide rod so this pistol field strips like a standard 1911(Colt Delta Elite), no need for that paper clip tool thing like bull barreled 10mms use. I would definitely recommend this 10mm Auto. Awesome pistol at an awesome price.

The Kimber 10mm 1911 Custom II pistol is great! It is well built, powerful, and a great buy. The fiber optic front sight is good as well as the rear two white dots. I will probably change out the white dots to something fiber optic someday, but the installed sights are good out of the box. I couldn’t give it a full 5 star rating for only one reason. It comes with only one stainless steel magazine. Two would have earned it a full 5 star rating. You can get 10mm magazines from Wilson Combat for around $30. The gun needs a good cleaning out of the box, but after that and a good break-in period, this pistol is pretty amazing. Overall, worth buying. The smooth action reminds you of that every time you pull it back to load a round!

For the money this is a very good 10mm 1911 option.

Well, typically I like Kimbers and have several in 45 that run everything and anything. This one? Total junk. I should have known the price was too good to be true for a Kimber. From the get go, the trigger had a lot of gritty creep in it. Hand cycling the gun caused failure to feeds. Once I got to the range, I could not get through a magazine without a failure to feed, with most of them being the final round jamming hard in a three point malfunction (slide face, bottom of chamber/feed ramp, and top of chamber). Ammo used was 180gr Sig Sauer Elite Performance RNFP. After 50 rounds I noticed my groups drifting to the right, and after 68 rounds the group was several inches to the right. I checked the gun over and found the front sight was drifting to the left out of the dovetail simply from the recoil and slide reciprocation. I quit right there. This is the third 10mm 1911 that I have tried and all of them have been completely unreliable. I am curious... for the price, were these used to train new employees at Kimber? Or were tehy seconds that somehow didn't pass QC testing. Otherwise, I can't understand why they were this low price.

Very disappointed in the gun. It is currently back at Kimber with a 4-8 week repair timetable. After cleaning off the excessive oil everywhere and lubing (the appropriate areas), I took it out shooting once with 150 rounds. It had feeding failures about 1/3-1/2 the time beginning with the first mag. Tried two different brands of 180 fmj ammo and several mags including the supplied kimber mag and several wilson combat mags. Failures occurred with both brands of ammo and all mags. The top of the feed ramp had a very abrupt and sharp edge that was marking up the feed failures brass. As the owner of several other 1911’s, including a reliable (after throwing out the factory mags and slide stop) Kimber 45 ACP Custom about 20 years old, I understand that they can have a few hiccups especially during the first few hundred rounds, but this example has the appearance that Kimber is using the customer and their customer service department in place of appropriate quality controls before shipment. Purchase process and delivery from Buds was smooth and timely.
