A really fun carbine to shoot for a great price. Unfortunately, I found the controls to be difficult (particularly the charging handle). Ordered / installed an oversized charging handle, but it did not help and I always struggled getting it into battery. However, once I did, it ran great. Probably could've sent back to Hi Point for a warranty repair but I just wasn't enamored with it (though I wanted to be).

Just received the hi point 45 rifle today. Seems to be a great working order. Got it a little late because buds guns didn't have my phone number right. And the FFL dealer couldn't contact me. Anyways, I haven't had a chance to really take it the rifle but it did arrive in excellent shape, brand new with a lock and magazine.

This is my second Hi-Point carbine, and I really don’t have enough good things to say about them. Super reliable, eat literally any ammo you feed it, and pretty accurate. I’m partial to the .45’s and I think any shooter worth his salt won’t have any problems laying down impressive groups out to 100yds. The factory iron sights are fine, and the rifles shoot well right out of the box. One disappointing thing about this one: Bud’s must have had this particular carbine in stock for a long time, and it must have been a very early build 4595TS-OD, as it did NOT have a threaded barrel. All of them do now, and have for awhile, at least in the .40 and .45 models. I can live with it, but it can now not be suppressed.
Pros: Super low cost, more reliable than some much more expensive rifles, and seem to be able to run great while filthy, wet, and/or really neglected. Decent sights that can get banged around in the truck and not lose zero. (Ask how I know...) Just grab it and start shooting. Also, the best warranty on the planet, forever, even extending to subsequent owners.
Cons: Kind of a crappy, notchy trigger that has a very heavy pull. Some really cheap components, namely the plastic guide rod that can bend, deform, break, or melt over time. Plastic Weaver rails that work, but look really cheap on the gun. They do accept Picatinny accessories but for some you may need to widen the slot the bolt goes through. 10 round capacity. And they’re a little on the porky side for sure.
My $0.02: The aftermarket is really picking up for these guns. I was able to get a trigger kit that helped a lot, a stainless guide rod, and a 15% heavier recoil spring all in one order for $35.00 including shipping. Tough to beat that, and it really smoothed the operation of the gun. (That was for my first 4595, and the parts for this one are on the way.) There are also many bolt-on rail replacements to get rid of the cheap looking Weavers, and lots of model specific bling to buy too, like barrel shrouds, compensators, etc. Lots of lipstick available for this pig, even though I don’t find them quite as ugly as many people do. Get the double mag holder for sure, it goes on the stock, and then you can have 28 rounds on board. Not that anyone shouldn’t be able to solve the vast majority of problems with the first ten rounds of .45ACP, just saying...
I’m keeping my first carbine as my good old, dinged up truck gun and keeping this one back at the ranch. These are great guns at a great price. Kind of like buying a Honda instead of a Mercedes, but they run super well for a very long time.

Built like a brick, accurate, and a price that can't be beat. I love this gun!
