works great, as long as you shoot brass, you won't have any problems.

Beautiful mid size pistol, has sight problems. Former Capt USMC pistol expert .45/.38. (I know big whoop!) Got a friend to try it without telling him about the sights: first shot he said "whoa" because it shot low. I said sorry "forgot" to tell you it shoots low. Other than that he thought it very smooth of which I would concur. As a side note he was there trying out a new polymer .45, he'd never fired before. He fired five shots and I was staring at the target because there was only 1 hole in the bull. On closer inspection I could see that he'd put all five through the same hole. (He's a real marine corps expert). So you can believe me or not, but the sights are FIXED elevation and there's nothing that will fix this other than new sights, which I ordered. I declined going through the hassle of sending this back, because they are FIXED sights and they shoot low. In my opinion (correct me if I'm wrong) these sights mounted at this depth of dovetail cut in the slide, are always going to shoot low (unless the earths gravity changes). That being the case then in theory if the same type sight is mounted the same way, then every pistol they are mounted on will shoot low...Oh well I've only got one so I'll have to leave it to say a manufacturing company that makes a whole bunch of these to test my theory...The pistol is a solid 5, the sights are a solid 1, average overall 3. In closing I will say that RIA seems to have very responsive service and I'm sure if I felt like it I could get this resolved through them. But I like this pistol a lot and I don't want to loose it if I can fix the problem. Whether or not this is a chronic problem with this model and maybe should have been fixed before this was sent out is above my pay grade. Anyway they seem very nice so I'm boosting them to a four. Bud's is the best dealer I've ever dealt with, and this review in no way reflects on them. I only post this in case my "theory" is correct...

I picked up my RI MAP1 9mm today. Field stripped and cleaned it in minutes. Struggled to load 16 rounds and stopped at 15. Should loosen up in time. Went out in the field with two 8x11 targets at about 15ft. I hit a three inch group on both targets. For me that is great. I am sure I will improve with practice. I sold a polymer framed 9mm (because I could not hit the paper) to buy this and it was a good decision. While the unit I received has the R.I.A. etched on the slides left side and Rock Island Armory along the top of the slide just in front of the rear sight in tiny letters name I cannot find the model name anywhere, only the CAL. 9mm stamp at the ejection port. It also has a low serial number. I am wondering if this is a newer model? If it is, I'm happy. The manual is from Tanfoglio. The entire pistol is made by Tanfoglio and assembled in the Philippines by RIA. The grips (which I will replace, have the bottom edge crudely scraped where it must have had stamped EAA, Witness, or Tanfoglio. I can't tell which) do this pistol a dis-service and do not match the quality of this gun. I think a better grip from RIA/Tanfoglio would make this a great pistol. I found it to be tight with no rattle or wiggle. The sight are easy to see and make lining up the target fast and accurate. The weight is just right for the 9mm and greatly reduces felt recoil . My choices for this purchase were between the RI MAP1 9mm and the RI 1911 9mm compact. Since there were no reviews of this model anywhere it kept me from deciding till now. Glad I did. I wanted the 16 rd capacity. Mine arrived with two magazines. I will enjoy this pistol. Thanks Bud's. This is my second purchase and I am already looking around for another RockSolid RIA.
