Ruger makes great guns & this 1911 is no exception. Everything you need & nothing you don't.

A truly great 1911. I don’t own dozens like a lot of people this is my only 1911. A great shooter with a good trigger and some good upgrades like the extended beaver tail, mag release, Novak night sights, skeletonized trigger and hammer. The thing I love the most is the nitride finish. I wanted a black 1911 but not blued, parkerized, or painted and I love nitride finishes. The only real knock I have on this gun is that the barrel and bushing are not polished at all. It looks pretty ugly. I spent a few hours polishing them up and they look great now but not everyone can or wants to do this. It doesn’t need to be a mirror polish but it’d be nice if Ruger did a little bit. It’s a great 1911 for the money and it is a Ruger so it’s all American.

Gorgeous 1911 at a great price. Definitely worth the extra cash over the standard Ruger. Best 1911s in their price range.

Great looking and shooting gun. 500 rounds with no problems. I love the look of the grips, but not very comfortable. I switched out with houge. Still great pistol!

I'm still waiting to transfer my Ruger SR1911 with my FFL dealer, but I would like to say that it has been a very satisfying experience to purchase and deal with BudsGunShop.com. They have a lot of great deals and their layaway plan is just outstanding. Upon my final payment, they deliver as promised that the gun ships to the FFL dealer of your choice within the timeframe noted in sale agreement. You cannot ask for anything better than what BudsGunShop.com has to offer. Thanks BudsGunShop.com. 96744gunnut@gmail.com

First off, two thumbs up for budsgunshop.com. Smooth transaction, top notch service. You can't go wrong when purchasing from budsgunshop.com. They made good on a inventory technical issue. Highly recommend buds. The Ruger SR1911 was more than I had hoped for. This is my "entry level" 1911 (first one I own). It arrived @ Burdette & Son (Local gun shop) on Feb 25. I inspected the firearm before taking possession. I found some minor but usual "bugs". 1, It had a lot of lube. The lube could be seen and felt on the chamber portion of the barrel, and at the back of the slide (rails). When I worked the slide a few times the lube caked up or seeped out the back of the slide. 2, The chamber portion of the barrel showed machine marks. At first I thought it was the lube but when I took the firearm apart to clean it, I realized it was machine marks. They are glaringly obvious too. Come on Ruger, we expect better. This is not my first Ruger. I like the Ruger line of firearms. No Ruger I personally owned has ever failed me. 3, The 8 round Ruger mag is longer than the firearm. I'm not just talking about the plate at the bottom of the mag, but the mag itself. When the 8 round Ruger mag is fully seated, the stainless steel mag peeks between the mag plate & firearm. The 7 round Ruger mag sits flush and looks good. 4, The Ruger mags are tight & tough. They will probably loosen up a bit over time, but initially, it takes some elbow grease to fully load them. After a couple of rounds I just stuck with the Chip McCormick 8 round mags I purchased separately. 5, The front "Strap" (or lack thereof) not checkered. The Good It looks great in hand. The picture does not do it justice. The Black Nitride finish is perfect. Very controllable! I have a Ruger SR45 I thought was reasonably manageable ( I have small hands), the SR1911 is much better. By the time I left the range, I could rapid fire w/it and had decent groupings. One or two more trips to the range and I will have the SR1911 dialed-in. Trijicon/Tritium 3 Dot day / night sights, enough said. The Enhanced Micarta Grips. Even w/no checkered front strap, these grips will keep the firearm firmly in in your hands. Range Results Ammo & Type used: Several hundred rounds of Winchester 230gr FMJ white box. 100 rounds of Blazer 230gr FMJ. 50 rounds Federal 230gr FMJ white box. 40 rounds of Underwood 185gr P JHP. 40 rounds of Liberty Civil Defense 78gr Copper, Monolithic, Hollow-Point Fragmenting, Personal Defense Round lead free (that's a mouth full) 1 box of assorted makes, weight, FMJ & JHP @ 30rounds (left over ammo from days gone by). I put several hundred rounds through the Ruger SR1911 & I had 3 failures. All three failures were from the Federal 230gr FMJ white box ammo. Upon further inspection, the failed rounds had dings/dents in them. Sights need some adjusting. Shot a little low for my taste. Grip safety was spot on. I have fired some 1911's that you really had to put pressure on the grip safety. The trigger can be adjusted. However my particular firearm was good. Not spongy & not a lot of over travel. Aside from the Federal Ammo, the Ruger SR1911 shot true and exactly the same for every round of a particular brand of ammo that went through it. No surprises. By that I mean, all the Winchester ammo shot the same, all the Liberty ammo shot the same and so on and so on... Overall I am pleased I purchased the Ruger SR1911. I am more than satisfied with its performance. Even though I made this my "entry level" 1911, the Ruger SR1911 can hold its own in the 1911 class. in my opinion, if your thinking about getting one, get it. I'm glad I did. Sorry if I was a little long winded.
