Worked fine, but it wasn't as much fun as I thought it would be.

The rifle worked fine. It was as easy to site in as a real military rifle would be. So far I have used 110 rounds of CCi copper plated round nose, without any problems

As others have stated this rifle by Chiappa has a lot of plastic on it. But that doesn't concern me at all. No problem with the magazines , no ftf or fte. It's accurate and that's all that really matters to me. I would have preferred the wood stock version but it was unavailable. In all I'm happy with my purchase and Bud"s service was exceptional.

Great little planker and fun for all, anything from dumping mags and mags of lead down range or precise shots at whatever you'd like. Gun is light and solid construction, I oil it and clean it every time I go out and rarely have any issues with any of the ammo I've used!

Overpriced for a .22, under-priced for a functional replica. It's a cool little number. Looks and functions well. Use only high velocity ammo as per the manual to avoid the incorrect complaint that the gun 'explodes' (See Youtube). Standard velocity ammo 'explodes' the bolt back in this set up, not the gun. Shoots accurately, polymer stock is very light. The weapon accepts standard M1 Carbine accessories like sling, oiler, vented steel upper hand guard etc. Some things to note...that for the price, seems like they should not have done: First, the magazines are fiber reinforced polymer instead of steel. Second, the front and rear sight are also polymer, not steel. Third, the parts used to hold the barrel to the stock and upper hand guard are polymer, not steel, including the bayonet lug. All of these parts seemingly should have been made of steel. I have no doubt that the polymer versions will last and work ok, they just seem...like a cheap shortcut in the vein of 'well...its just a .22, what do you expect?' For $250, I expected steel. For $150 I'd have looked the other way on plastic airsoft sights, attachment parts, and magazines. Main complaint is that the sights use an allen set screw threaded into the polymer...so....it takes zero effort to strip the threads in the polymer when or if you need to adjust the sights. Bad design considering the threads strip before the set screw actually exerts any useable force to secure the sight. All in all though pretty happy with it. I bought the polymer stock version with the intention of modifying and adding tacticool silliness for a modern interpretation, so I'm not too worried about it. So, five stars for the look, three for the actual construction materials, four for the price. Five stars for Buds.

These little Chiappa M1-22 Carbines may just be the best kept secret since the Ruger 10/22! The carbine is a highly accurate rendering of the original pattern M1 Carbine, though naturally not exact since it's built for the .22 Long Rifle. The only difference between this model and the wood stock version is just that - the stock. This one uses a polymer stock which detracts from the "purist's" perception of..."purity," yet being of the same size, shape, and fit, the polymer stock is a boon to those not slavishly devoted to making a copy look like the original. For example, the polymer stock is a natural to paint or camo-dip. The polymer stock also works with the M1 Carbine sling and oiler without modification, whereas the wood stock requires a bit of extra inletting. The basic receiver is aluminum, steel barrel and bolt, polymer trigger housing, trigger, bayonet lug, sights, yet these are crisp and well done so they don't come off looking cheap except in the eyes of those who thought they'd get a $1,000 rifle for less than 300 bucks. Aside from that, the tip-off scope mounts molded into the receiver are convenient...mount any scope with a set of .22 rings! Trigger is on the heavy side, but plenty good for the basic rifle. The polymer mags work very well. There is no feed ramp...but something better, the magazines position the nose of the cartridge perfectly to enter the chamber and this is what they do. I have yet to experience a malfunction with this rifle over nearly 500 rounds fired. Replacement magazines are readily available from Chiappa for less than 20 bucks. As much as I used to like the Ruger 10/22, I like this little gem more. It's less expensive, just as reliable with the factory supplied magazines, accurate, and feels just a bit more natural coming to the shoulder than the 10/22. The key...and the "secret" to any .22 firearm's success lies in the magazines...the ability to feed cleanly, and of the two Chiappa M1-22 carbines I own, both feed excellently. I highly recommend this little rifle...especially THIS model because it's dirt cheap to acquire yet shoots perfectly, takes a mil-spec sling, mounts a scope for not a dollar more, comes with two reliable mags with more for under $20 apiece.
