I bought the S&W shield to replace my XDS both in .45acp because although I love the XDS it didn't like my fat web on my hand. It bit. I got tired if cleaning my blood off my gun. I handled (fondled) this pistol at my local Cabela's so I didn't make the same mistake. Good fit & finish, good trigger, and so far a good shooter. Put 100 rounds through it of everything from old mil surplus, crap Russian to hydraschock & TAP. No issues. Not a big fan of the magazine safety bar thing but not an issue because I'm never with out a sharp pointy tool. Grip on the shield is aggressive & it's taking some getting used to in the holsters ( iwb, paddle, & friction) but it sticks to my meat hook paw & the angle & itty bitty beaver tail on the frame is enough to keep my fat web on my hands from getting bit. Sights are clear & easy to find. Who ever thought about those fiberoptic tubes was a genius.My first S&W, it'll be a keeper I think. Bud's beat the snot out of Cabela's sale price especially when using the QP discount. And once again shipping to FFL not an problem.
