Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley 6.5" 480 Ruger Revolver - Stainless/Silver, 6.5" Barrel, 5 Rounds, Wood Grips, 3-Dot Sights

Got this to go with my matching 454 Casull and it was delivered quickly and at a fair price but it had issues out of the box which had to go right to Ruger. It seems the cylinder timing was off but Ruger had it back to me within 2 weeks. Way to go Ruger. This is one of the downsides to purchasing via the internet however I'll still buy from Buds.

First let me start by saying how great buds was once again. The guys and gals at buds were awesome as always. Shipping it took a little longer than normal but its middle of tax season so thats expected. Now for the gun. Man is this thing beautiful. I own a few Rugers but this is by far my new favorite! The balance is perfect, trigger nice light and crisp with 0 travel, the fit and finish were on point. Put 5 down range and it shot a little low and left at first but that was a fast fix. The recoil isnt for a beginner but no where near the super magnums, however it was noticeably more than my hot loaded 44 and 45lc. Cant wait to get this on some hogs or deer this year. If your even thinking about getting this weapon do, just get it! You wont be sorry!

Fit and finish wasn't there. After two trips back to the factory the loading gate was made to work properly, but the fitting is not right. Shoots well enough, so I left it at that. I just try to avert my sight from it.

I am pleased with the quality of my Ruger Super Blackhawk in 480 Ruger. Fit and finish are very good for a production level gun. The gun is very accurate shooting light loads as well as shooting heavy loads. I also had a good experience dealing with Buds Gunshop. Excellent price and very good customer service.

In my opinion Ruger offers the best single action, affordable, large caliber revolvers on the market. This Bisley SBH .480 Ruger is the perfect example. Now I just have to find the opportunity and location to fire it. Very impressed. Bud's service and selection are outstanding.

The gun arrived quickly from Buds Gun Shop. Their service is very good. The gun is heavy, but that mitigates much of the recoil. The .480 is about 20% hotter than a .44 magnum. The gun's fit and finish was good; however, the cylinder was a little stiff in one spot when rotated. My local gunsmith fixed that quickly and its fine now. Accuracy is extremely good with the 6.5 inch barrel. It shoots reloads with hard cast and factory 325 grain loads well. The Bisley grips tame recoil tremendously. The trigger is smooth and light like most quality single actions. I had to highlight the front sight and this will help as my eyes are not as young as they used to be. You will have less choices when trying to find a holster for this gun. I ordered a custom holster for hunting season and found that many holster manufacturers don't list this gun at all. All in all, the fit and finish is very good. If you want a big-bore revolver for hunting, camp safety, or just plain fun; then this is for you. If you are a reloader, then the .480 Ruger really shines.

I have named this handgun: "WOMPER" because that is the best way to describe it. If you are looking for a 480 handgun you should already know that the recoil is not for beginners. The Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 is an awesome handgun. I have hand loaded four different loads and put about 100 rounds through the gun so far. The loads are: 275 Speer DCHP at 1600 fps, 325 Speer DCSP at 1400 fps, the 355 TrueShot WFNGC at 1400, and the 410 grain Cast Performance WFNGC at 1180 fps. All of them shoot accuratly and have the same general impact. Some shot higher or lower but they all shot to center. The gun itself: accurate, heavy, BEEFY. It's no lightweight. Looks good and feels good. Now for the bad: after 40 rounds, the front sight broke off. I contacted Ruger and they gave me an RMA and had the gun back to me in about 2-1/2 weeks round trip. I shot 60 more rounds since having it back and so far so good. This was my first time using Bud's and I had a very good experience and have since bought another revolver from Bud's and will no doubt get more in the future.
