This pistol is the pistol of all pistols! Absolutely gorgeous gun. This pistol is accurate and deadly. The fact that I can shoot .460 s&w, .454 casull, .45 colt and .45 s&w schofield our of the same pistol is awesome! I bought a Burris handgun scope for this pistol and with the bipod and sling that come with it, make this pistol an excellent hunting handgun! Can’t go wrong with Smith and Wesson performance center!!

The gun is Awesome!! The only issue I have is the S&W emblem was half stamped! From what I have read from other reviews I’m not the only one. Maybe they should get a new quality control department!! Other then that, It’s great!

Thanks to Buds customer service and all involved for getting this to me for my son's birthday in decent time, even with the sudden boost of orders. This .460 S&W Preformance Center Magnum comes with a tactical bipod, a shoulder strap, and a case. The shoulder strap and bipod cannot be used at the same time with these particular products, but not necessarily a problem. That's just informational. It would be in your best interest to upgrade the bipod and shoulder strap. It had power marks from where it had been shot and tested at the factory. No problem. It was minute, but set my mind at ease about taking the first shot and the possibility of a failure. This revolver with the bipod and Nikon pistol scope I put on weighs somewhere between 7 and 8 pounds loaded. It is heavier than my .500 S&W Magnum with the 8 and 3/8 inch barrel by a bit. The bag that it comes in is nice. The one mine came in had a torn zipper that S&W replaced at no charge with a nice phone call. We took it to an indoor range and shot 20 Federal Fusion 260 grain and 20 Hornady FTX 200 grain. With the increased barrel length, you can feel the pressure increase, but the massive muzzle brake makes a significant dent in the recoil. It does jump a little On the bipod, thus the need for an upgraded bipod. Our range master shot it, and he said the recoil seemed fine as well, but that it jarred his teeth from the pressure wave. I have been shooting for 42 years and shooting revolvers for 40 years. This pistol is not for inexperienced or cocky people. When you shoot it, let your arms and body absorb the recoil, not your wrists. If you try to force it down with your arms, it will try to jump out of your grip. Squeeze the trigger. Don't anticipate the recoil, just let it flow. All, in all, it is great to shoot, it turns heads at the range, the recoil junkies want one, and there are those that shy away because they are afraid they may embarrass themselves. Bringing this and the .500 Magnum to the range, and now you get a crowd. Funny that my wives light snub nosed .357 Magnum concealed carry 5 shot palm revolver has more felt recoil, even though this has much more felt pressure wave. My 14 year old son that barely weighs 100 pounds loves it. He had a quarter grouping at about 17 yards. It would have been better I believe once he gets used to the scope and not using open sights on a revolver. I would recommend this and the .500 for anyone that wants attention at the range, wants an efficient hunting revolver capable of humane kills on anything walking on the planet. It is loud, it commands, it is not for the timid. 5 stars all around.

I will start of by saying Bud's get 5 stars but S&W receives 3 stars. I was always a big S&W fan, besides the Python I judged all pistols by S&W quality and finish. I had expected this revolver being a Performance Center gun would live up to my belief that S&W revolvers where the best. It is a beautiful gun to say the least, till I saw the S&W stamped logo half way imprinted, all most gone of the left of the stamp. I can not believe this passed there quality control. This was not a cheap gun. This is the second new S&W revolver I have had a problem with in a row. The other was a 357 that the yoke blew off on the FIRST shot and scratched up the gun. I sent it back and was it returned to me looking as it was dragged down a dirt road. They made it right but the time and the cost was upsetting. I'm in The People's Republic of California so if I send it back and they send out a new I have to do the waiting period and cost all over. It will be 2 months before I could use it. I'm seriously thinking of just keeping it and NEVER BUY A NEW S&W again.

While I've got several other hand guns, this was my first revolver and what a doozie! Go Big or Go home! The Performance Center lives up to it's reputation as being designed from the bottom up. Received it last week and took it to the range Saturday. Put five different loads through it (45 colt 185 grain, 45 colt 225 grain, Casull 454, S&W460 260 grain and S&W460 360 grain). Well, the 45 colt is just fantastic. With a 3-9 scope on it (purchased it separately), you can hit 100 yards easily without even focusing, but that's from the bipod! Pure shooting enjoyment. Honestly, everything was great up to the 360 grain S&W 460. That is just too much round for my hand! Not a big guy and it stung a bit. Doesn't mean I'm not going to shoot it with that load again, but honestly... I'm wearing a glove! Highly recommend it and Bud's was quick to ship (2 days I think). Truly something that catches everyone's attention at the range. Just make sure to bring enough ammo and try not to empty the bank account at the cost of these rounds!

i love this revolver, i also have a 500 smith performance center hunter model. while these hand cannons are a challenge to shoot due to recoil, i find that as simply an additional challenge to the disciplines needed for accurate pistol shooting. that said you will never see me at camp perry competing for a national title. but i will keep shooting on the long range pistol league (200 yds) at my local shooting club. these guns are deadly accurate and have a trigger that you could spend many dollars in the aftermarket to achieve. see you at the range, and happy shooting! P.S. it pays to reload your own with these (460, 500) rounds. sincerely, matt.

i received mine on Christmas eve 2014, easy shipping process. the gun was obviously fired more than just the one "test" cartridge from the factory. All 5 chambers had burn rings on the face of the cylinder. I've noticed this same thing with S&W revolvers at numerous gun shops, not a huge deal to me. The cylinder was NOT polished chrome as I've seen them in stores and as it shows in pictures on here. I've had it now for almost 5 months and had to send it back to S&W. I've put exactly 125rnds through it, all of which were Hornady 200 grain FTX ammo. The barrel gradually started turning. The muzzle break and front sight were centered with the rear sight when I received it, now if you look down the rear sight the front sight is completely out of view, about 1/8 of a turn to the left out of center. S&W was quick to send me a shipping label to repair the gun but it really sucks to spend this kind of money on what is supposed to be a high quality "performance" hunting revolver and just have to send it back. I would understand/expect something like this out of a Charter arms/ or rossi or other low end revolver but definitely not a S&W performance center product.

The S&W 460 is most likely the best gun I have ever bought.. The craftsmanship is second to none.. And with the 14 inch barrel the accuracy is great .I am hitting a 3 inch round target at over a hundred yards every time with the aid of a scope. Not bad for a pistol. It also comes with a bipod a sling and a very nice case.. Buds was also great to deal with. From the time I placed my order online the gun was in my hands within 5 days.. Thanks Buds
