Customer Reviews 49 Customer Reviews Average 4.9 out of 5 Matthew F Bought this on a Sunday and it was in my hands on Thursday morning, The gun was in perfect shape. My first transaction with Bud's was flawless
I am not a 1911 guru, but have owned my own vintage combat 1911 for 25 years, and have a deep personal affection for it. I only felt the need to buy a new one because I now carry a 5" 1911 and did not want to holster-wear my baby. I read as much as I could on basic 1911s and the Ruger kept coming up as solid, reliable and a good shooter. Then I saw Bud's (and others) had this gun on sale for bargain prices. I jumped in with both feet.
On Friday, my son and I went to the range to break it in. We shot 150 rds of federal aluminum 230 ball, 150 rds of Sig Sauer 230 ball, 100 rds of Winchester white box 230 jhp, 100 rds and 50 rds of Hornady xtp 185 jhp.
There was one FTF on mag 2, round 2. But further inspection revealed the round was actually out-of-spec, and should not be counted as a 'gun' failure (nevertheless, there it is). Other than that ... not a single hiccup. Nada. The XTP was fired dead last, when the gun was getting dirty. With the last mag, I was able to put all 7 rds in one ragged hole at 25 feet, I'd say a 1.5" group. For me, this is almost supernatural, I felt like the gun was doing it by itself. (The other ammo was maybe not so tight, but still groups were staying at a couple inches with an occasional flier, so (for me) good).
I have just purchased several boxes of XTP (pricey stuff) and several boxes of Golden Saber (not cheap, but my current favorite) to see if I was just learning the gun and getting better, and/or if this gun just loves Hornady XTP. Either way, I love this SR1911. If it shoots the XTP that well, that is what I will carry. 2 months ago Gordon D A solid, sexy, well built 1911. The Ruger SR1911 45ACP is not as heavy as it appears, and has a nice balance in the shooter's hands. The clear sights are easily visible from a standby to ready-to-fire stance for quick target acquisition, and it produces a nice 3" grouping at 20 yards for me. The recoil is almost the same as many 9mm pistols because of the weight and the 5" barrel length both help absorb the discharge. I have been a Ruger fan since I first shot my father's Single Ten as a little guy over 30 years ago, and this beauty doesn't disappoint in the slightest. Bud's went the extra mile helping get this baby in my hands after it showed out of stock after I paid for it, and even called me back for confirmation that it would be delivered and on time! I don't see customer service like this a lot these days I can honestly say, and I was pleasantly amazed by the professionalism of Bud's staff. Hope to see you at the range friends enjoying our 2nd Amendment my friends. 3 months ago Show More Reviews...
