[5 of 5 Stars!]I bought this revolver for use in my concealed handgun classes. I got it at a great price, made even better by a factory rebate that was going on at the time. While Taurus has a well-deserved reputation for spotty quality control, the Model 85 is one of their oldest designs, and they have figured out how to make this gun properly. On receipt, I was favorably impressed by the quality of fit and finish of this stainless steel revolver.
Out of the box, the double action trigger was much better than on most of my small revolvers, running about 9.5 pounds on my scale. Single action pull was about 3.5 pounds. Timing of the revolver seems good and on the range it proved to be accurate for a small gun, out to 15 yards or so.
Unfortunately, for me at least, the mother of one of my best friends who had never shot a gun before tried the Taurus and fell in love with it. It was so great to see how quickly she bonded with the gun and gained confidence with it, that I allowed my friend to buy it for her, but I kept the rebate. Now I'm just waiting for another one to pop up at a good price to replace it.

[1 of 5 Stars!]I had a friend who spoke very highly of his Taurus 38, so I thought I\'d give it a go at a very good price. Buds service was excellent. Great price and easy delivery to my gun shop.
When I received the revolver, I noticed the hammer would stick at half-cock. This didn\'t seem right to me, so I called Taurus and they confirmed it shouldn\'t work like this. I sent it back to them immediately, and more than 2 months later, they still have not fixed and returned it.
Clearly, I went for price on this gun, but out of the box I think a gun should work. I\'ve never had these issues with other brands, but I typically buy Ruger or Beretta. Next time, I will spend a few more dollars. I would not buy nor recommend a Taurus with so many other quality brands on the market.Show More Reviews...
