Derived from the Model 1866, which became quite popular, the Model 1873 Winchester proved cheaper to produce and had a stronger action. The first lever action available in the day with a broad range of options and calibers, the 1873 became a brilliant success. Over 720,000 of them were produced between 1873 and 1919, and it justly became known as "the gun that won the West".
Winchester brought this iconic rifle back in 2013 and it is nearly identical to the original rifles with the addition of an improved safety. While there are any number of Model 1873 reproductions on the market, now you can own a piece of the actual legend.
