It features a 16.25" threaded medium bull barrel with an 11 degree tapered crown for excellent accuracy, topped with a flash suppressor. Adjustable fiber optic sights are supplied, but the MVP Patrol also comes equipped with a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for mounting a scope or other optics. Short answer---Great rifle all around! I think it's well worth the money for what you get!! I was looking for a nice, dependable scout rifle, & this definitely seems to fit the bill. Plus Bud's is the champ of guns!!! Have never had anything close to a bad experience, you guys rock my gun socks!! Long answer.....wellll..... It's super lightweight, ergonomic & easy to handle! Now, it's not an artillery piece, but for how light & handy the rifle is, recoil from the 7.62 cartridge is very manageable. I think it's a great option for just throwing on your back & heading out for a hike or a hunt. It's even great for just a day at the range! Only negative I can mention is that the bolt is a bit gritty & loose feeling which makes it a little tricky for speedy bolt work. However it does lock up very tight, no issues with that. This has the ability to accept LR-308 & M1A/M14 mags which lead them to that dual push bolt design which causes it to feel that way. Honestly, I don't think it's a problem at all. The ability to just pick up a couple 10, 20, or 30, round LR-308 P-Mags or M1A mags (which look super sexy) & not have to deal with some weird proprietary mag, a smaller capacity rotary mag, to me, I think it's worth it. Plus I mean c'mon....you know you want to throw in a 30 round magazine just 'cause you can. This is very accurate out of the box. The open rifle sights are very cool, & they're dead nuts accurate! It's a very nice feature if you don't wanna get some glass right away. The fiber optic front sight is really easy to see in the daytime. Also it's bedded for accuracy. The stock has a very sturdy feel for a "synthetic". Mossberg supposedly uses some type of wood with a polymer coating? I can say that it's very rugged, which is a deal breaker for me. I do not like that flimsy, hollow, toy like, synthetic material that you get with some other rifles in this price range. It makes it feel like the stock is going to blow apart under recoil. This rifle is definitely made with a quality material. All around, I really do enjoy this rifle, & for the price, there's not many companies that'll give you a quality bolt gun & cool features out of the box. Awesome choice If you're in the market for nice, affordable, rugged scout rifle. PS I also think this would make a great SHTF kinda rifle, just saying:)

absolutely a great gun to shoot, added a scope and bipod which makes it that much more of a joy to shoot.

I was looking for a smaller, lightweight, and inexpensive rifle to carry in the pickup and I think that I have found what I was looking for. I needed a threaded barrel for a suppressor and wanted open sights for a backup in case my scope took a dump in the field and the MVP Patrol has those features as well. If you purchase this weapon, you need to give it a good cleaning and add some thread locker to the scope rail screws before firing a round through it. Mine was filthy out of the box and the scope rail screws were loose. I mounted a Leupold 4x9 scope on it and ran various reloads of 147g, 150g, and 168g FMJ through it. The rifle performed well with all of the reloads and also performed well with factory 150g Fiocchi and 147g 7.62x51 Winchester FMJ. This is not a “1000 yard” rifle, but up to 200 yards it worked great for me. The only negative for me is the bolt. It is rough and I do mean rough, but it works and had no issues picking up rounds out of the supplied MagPul magazine. I do like the fact that it will use the SR25 type AR magazines. I fired 180 rounds through it on its maiden voyage without a single hiccup. Time will tell if this one is a keeper for me, but for now I will give the rifle 4 stars (deducting 1 star for the bolt) and I will give Bud’s 5 stars for their stellar performance.
