what recoil pad this have from remington soft or hard?

the recoil pad on the express is about a medium not hard but not super soft the good thing is there are may super recoil pads out there if you don't like this one. the limbsaver is about the softest on the market but for me they don't last more than a year or two. I prefer the pachmayr decelerator recoil pads or the kick ezz pads

Hi Hanz, This uses a Medium Firm Rubber Recoil Pad.

This uses a Semi Firm Rubber "Vented" Recoil Pad. I would recommend an inexpensive "Slip On" Decelerator Pad for even less recoil reduction than the stock pad : https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/48455/Pachmayr+DEC+MAG+SLIPON+PAD+BLK+LG

Like all Model 870 shotguns, this workhorse features a receiver milled from a solid billet of steel for maximum strength and reliability. The silky-smooth twin action bars prevent binding and twisting so you'll always have the chance to get off a second shot. Appropriately dressed for the hunt and not for the wall, each shotgun sports non-reflective, black matte metalwork and a no-frills, satin-finish hardwood stock and forend. This 12 gauge Combo model has a 26" vent rib barrel with a modified Rem choke, a 20" fully rifled deer barrel with rifle sights, and has a 3-round capacity.
