What did they do to this gun to make it CA compliant? I live in NY, but not sure of the modifications done to this?

No modifications the main thing is to be submitted and included on the CA DOJ handgun roster (money to CA) and it must comply with the following " Any semiautomatic pistols that do not have a fixed magazine, but have any one of the following: o Threaded barrel capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or suppressor. o Second handgrip o A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the gun without burning their hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel. o Capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip. Cannot exceed 10+1 round capacity. You are correct in your assumption Mike. This Double Action Only pistol has no "Manual Safety'.

Will a gun purchased right now have the updated trigger and slide pre-installed so it is not necessary to go through the voluntary upgrade program?

Tyler, the UPC code of of recent manufacture. It usually takes a serial number to verify this with Sig Sauer. You can try Buds Customer Service to see if they have insight on this. I would venture to say yes, but can't be 100% sure. It would depend on the manufacture date of the particular gun. I would go ahead and purchase. If it did not have the upgrade I would send it in link on upgrade https://www.sigsauer.com/support/p320-voluntary-upgrade/
