Yes, the ammo is compatible between the two. I got the bug for the 6.8 SPC. Didn't want to modify my .223 AR so I built one on a Savage action. EVERYBODY talked about the 6.8 SPC II being the "only way to go" and NOTHING else would work. ::) Went with the standard 6.8 SPC with the shorter throat (rather than the SPC II) so I could jam my bullets into the lands. Works like a champ and no issues. 5 shots, from the bench at 100 yards in the - 1/2" range. Started off shooting 90 grain bullets and will go heavier as the throat wears.

Awesome gun, Stag makes a very good AR in 6.8spc. Minimal recoil never had any problems accuracy is excellent replaced the stock with an ACE Skeleton, took off the Hogue forearm and put on a light weight key mod forearm replaced the bcg with a Alex Pro Nickel boron bcg very slick had it painted cerakote in burnt bronze. Shooting the SSA Accu Bond 110's deadly on deer. Happy happy.

Great rifle, tack driver and fun to shoot, very good build quality, exactly what I expected from Stag Arms. Although I didn't get a deer with it a friend did with his and dropped it in its tracks. Gotta love the 6.8 Ballistics. As always buds guns delivered fast and a great price.

This is a really nice quality rifle. with excellent fit and finish. I own many AR-15 rifles from several manufacturers (Alexander, CMMG, DPMS, AERO, and STAG) in all calibers and this is one of my favorites. It has a 20" medium weight barrel and with a balanced, nice feel and weight for an AR15. The 6.8mm SPC provides a nice range of bullet weights from 85 grain to 120 grain, making for a versatile weapon for varmint hunting thru deer sized game. I doubt anyone would be disappointed with the rifle and along with Bud's Gun Shop fast shipping, excellent communications, you receive a winning combination. Highly recommended!

bought this to be a do it all, always in the truck gun. put a leupold mark 2 3-9x40 on it and it is as accurate as I am, first 5 shot group out of the box at 100 yds(after sighted in) was 2 inches, and every group I shot after that was getting tighter and tighter. as always buds gun shop was amazing, got my shipment in the timeframe they said I would.

If you are considering an AR type rifle for hunting then you need to look closely at the Stag model 7. This is a full size rifle but it still handles well. I have fired about fifty rounds through mine with zero malfunctions. So far 110 gr V maxes have shot best averaging around 1 MOA with 110 pro hunters,110 accubonds, and 120 gr SSTs averaging around 1.25 MOA. The trigger is actually pretty good. I would highly recommend this rifle. Thanks

As usual, buds was great very fast shipping. I quickly inspected the rifle at my FFL but was too anxious to get it home and start putting some rounds down range. Once I got home I noticed the hand guard was off kilter, and not perfectly aligned. Went through stag, and they corrected the issue very fast.

I've put 80 rounds through this gun and it shoots very well right out of the box. This is my new favorite gun. It has just slightly more recoil than a 223 but packs a bigger punch that is sufficient for hunting deer (which I wouldn't trust my 223 for). With a holographic sight it still groups about 1.5 MOA at 100 yards. The gun is lighter than an AR10 type 308 and the fore stock has a rubber coated section that makes it easy to hold barehanded in the cold and does not heat up when the barrel gets hot. Cons: ammo is harder to find and much more expensive than 223 ammo.
