I shot 45LC, 454 casull, and .460 mag out of this bad boy and with a barrel length like this the recoil was extremely manageable and yeah the .460 barks..

This high quality revolver is extremely versatile as it can shoot 45 Colt, 454 Casull, and Smith and Wesson 460 magnum. I use mine with 460 magnum. The 10.5 inch barrel provides excellent accuracy. I use mine with a scope, however, the sights are easy to use and give me good groups at 25 yards. The revolver is fairly heavy and difficult to use without a rest. The weight and the muzzle brake diminishes recoil which is substantial when shooting 460 magnum. It is my favorite revolver for target practicing.

This sw460 is a hell of a handgun and very accurate! Buds was very quick about getting it shipped out and arriving in perfect condition!

This is my favorite handgun. I plan on going big game and bear hunting with this gun in the near future. If you're a reloader and like to experiment, you will really like this handgun. You can shoot 45 LC, 454 Casull and the 460 S&W. Combine that with all the different type and weights of bullets and you have a smorgasbord of reloading possibilities. Recoil is very manageable with the 10-1/2" PC XVR, even with the hottest/ heaviest loads.

Love the 460 Smith and Wesson. I got the 101/2 inch barrel. Shot it 7 times and hit 7 bullseyes . People came to see what I was shooting after the first few shots. If you want a big bore handgun I would highly recommend the 460 mag.

Recieved My S&W 460XVR 10.5" today! Wow it's a beauty! The gun is in great working order , and I am very happy with the communication from Buds even though it took a while to get the pistol it was well worth the wait. I will be firing it soon at the local range, will let you know how it performs. Hay I showed my local dealer the price I got the pistol for, and they just cannot compete with Buds prices. Quality product from S&W. More than impressed with performance center! Not as heavy as it looks.

Ordered on Friday and it was at my FFL on Tuesday! Great job Buds on the fast shipping. Smooth transaction and best price around. As for the gun...WOW!!!!! Quality: well, it's a Smith...what else can I say. Very high quality. Action: VERY smooth action. Ttrigger: Unbellievable in SA. DA its heavy as expected, but for the purpose of this gun, totally acceptable. Weight: it's the 10.5"...its HEAVY for sure. But when you fire it, that weight is an asset. After firing a couple cinders of 45LC, it was suprising how little recoil there was. Moving up to the 454 Casull...Ha-Ha-Ha....That was no expected. Wow that gets your attention quick! Probably more so because it was an indoor range, but loud as can be and quite a flash. The XVR handeled it with no problem. After two cylinders though, the shooter was done. Not the gun, but the shooter. Did I mention there's a big flash and quite a bang? I haven't even tried the 460 mag yet... Oh and yes, you do get everyone's attention at the range. Even the store manager came to the viewing area and watched. He was in the back and wanted to see what the big boomer was. Overall, excellent gun, would buy it again for sure. With the 10.5" though, you will want to get some shooting sticks. After a short time, you really start to notice how beavy this thing really is.

This is the best revolver I have ever handled period!!! The Smith and Wesson quality is evident throughout this massive performance center revolver. The recoil is not bad at all even with the stout 460 magnum ammunition. I will use this revolver to hunt wild boar, deer, elk and bear. I love the versatility that this gun offers!! Awesome revolver, very smooth trigger and action. Have only had a chance to shoot .454 casull ammo in it so far, but it has performed flawlessly and is very accurate. Very front heavy revolver due to barrel length but helps tame recoil. Looking forward to putting a scope on it and running some .460 s&w through it. If your looking for a large multi-cartridge handgun, look no further.

This is an excellent beautiful revolver that will be with me on many future hunting trips. It is built like a tank. It is big, heavy and loud. Definitely double up on hearing protection. The trigger is one of the smoothest trigger I have felt in a revolver. This revolver definitely lives up to performance center quality. In my opinion, the felt recoil was no greater than a 44 mag. It will shoot .460, 454 and 45 LC cartridges. There is lots of thread out there on why a .460? Question is why not? I didn't need it, I just wanted it and do not regret my purchase. One con is good luck finding a holster.
