When I bought my XD9 4.0 Mod2 there wasn't a Springfield Armory Gear Up promotion available. During those promotions you, if you buy a qualified product, can get free magazines, canvas range bag as well as this paddle holster and magazine pouch. So I bought this holster for my XD. Since I am not an LEO or military I don't need to spend more money on a police style retention holster. Self defense means that, SELF defense. Why would I involve myself into a situation where someone could disarm and injury me with my own gun. This holster is more than adequate to keep my holster at my side and with the properly adjusted tension screw the pistol will remain secure in the holster. If you have an XD get one and you'll be more than satisfied

The pistol did not fit the holster which is strange since it was supposedly made for that specific pistol. It would go in but had to let the adjust screw too far out to get it out the holster.
