Shot the rifle today for the first time and it shoots as good as it looks. The fit and finish is beautiful. You can feel the quality as soon as you pick it up. This will be one of my favorite rifles to head to the range with for years to come.

This rifle has been a dream rifle that I have always wanted to own and I was finally able to purchase one through Bud's thanks to their competitive pricing. I knew the outstanding reputation these Miroku made Winchester 1886's had and when I received the rifle and it did not disappoint. This is an EXTREMELY high quality rifle! The blued steel is glossy and without blemish or signs of tooling, the fitment is flawless and tight and the walnut stock has an attractively figured grain and is appropriately finished in oil (not a high gloss). In my opinion, these Miroku made rifles are some of the best quality rifles being made today and actually they are quite a bargain for what you are getting. If this rifle was made in the USA to this exact quality, you can bet it would cost you at least $2,000. People need to get over their "but it's made in Japan" prejudice and see these Mirokus for what they are and that is some of the finest rifles in the world at very reasonable prices. They are also limited in production and so will hold, if not go up in value. I cannot recommend this rifle enough, especially if you are looking to shoot +P 45-70 cartridges. This quite simply the finest big bore lever action rifle available today that would most certainly become a cherished family heirloom to anyone who bought one.

Fit and Finish is typical Winchester quality even if made by Miruko. The rebounding hammer is going to take time to get used to. Freaked me out first time. Thought hammer was not hitting pin and it has not just me, FFL dealer w/25yrs selling Winchesters wanted to really check this rifle out before accepting and passing it on as good to go. Action is smooth and easy handling. Accuracy is pretty decent with lead and jacketed ammo. It compares well with pre 64 Winchester 94 in 30-30. Well worth the waite of two years thru FFl and found it on Buds Guns of all places.
