Bud's was prompt and easy to deal with. The gun arrived in great shape and quickly. As for the gun--this is now one of my favorite firearms--and I have plenty. The recoil is stiff, but was "fixed" with some larger wooden grips, which I bought on eBay from Thailand. And the flimsy moon clips from Taurus are junk, but this is quickly remedied by ordering a new set of stainless rigid clips from TK Custom. These two updates to this gun have made this revolver and excellent purchase and I would recommend it to anyone. I'm rating this 4 of 5, not because of any issues with the gun, as I love it, but because I needed to replace the grips and the moon clips to be 100% satisfied. Taurus should really update their moon clips. (I also have a Taurus M905, which is a 9mm revolver, and this model also has the horrible flimsy moon clips. A quick order from TK Custom "fixed" that gun as well, although the clips are not extremely cheap.) Some people apparently hate moon clips, but they don't bother me at all. If you are having difficulty removing them, use a spent .45ACP shell over the top of the .40S&W round to remove them from the clip without damaging the clip. Works great. (I also use a .40S&W spent shell to remove 9mm rounds from the M405 revolver.)

The 405 is a great gun. It has a great DA trigger and a silky SA trigger. I was surprised by the accuracy. Very fun to shoot. It's a bit large for concealed carry but is nice to have as dependable back up that can handle being stored in a hot car or truck indefinitely. And did I mention the accuracy :). It does use moon clips but they offer some advantages in reload speed and also keeping keeping spent shells managed...

Nice gun, good finish, hate the moon clips..would pass just for that reason.

great gun love it!!! buds always dose a great job. Moon clips are a little hard to load but once you fire a couple arounds they losen up a little. Shoots great no problems at all.

Ugh, I really wanted to love this gun being a 40 S&W revolver. After inspecting at my FFL, everything looked good. While cleaning it I was impressed with the overall fit/finish. I thought for a $300 this was a steal. It was at the range where I soon started to understand possibly why these semi auto cal revolvers are now discontinued. The moon clips supplied are awful. They came out of the packaging filthy. No biggy, cleaned them off and while loading the loaded clips into the gun I realized it wasn't going to work as the clips aren't perfectly flat so they get bound up when trying to close the action. The first clip I used worked fine until the fifth shot where the cylinder wouldn't turn. Moon clip caught between the cylinder and firing pin/hammer. Had to use a little force to get the cylinder out but had noticed the primers on the rounds had been scratched...potentially a very dangerous situation. I tried three different clips of the 5 that came with the gun and was fed up with them so I fired the gun w/o clips. Shoots straight, not tack driver but an up close and personal gun.. If you opt to not use the clips you have to push the empty cases out with a dowel or anything long enough to push them out. Not a good situation if say you need to reload in a self defense scenario.. I'd give it two stars, but the gun itself is well made and I hear there are aftermarket moon clips that actually work with this gun available, but I don't think I'll keep. An inexpensive Kahr was probably the way I should have gone, but then again, it was bargain price and it'll still shoot 5 rounds if you really need it to.

Bud great again..ordered Monday at ffl Thursday. Test fired pistol ( once I found ammo, lol). Only fired 10 ends, but shot great. Very light felt recoil, grips do a great job of mitigating shock. Gun is very controllable, and seems fairly accurate. Minute of pie plate anyway ( its 15 degrees and 20 mph wind so wasn't to patient). Will test again when nicer out. I've owned many Taurus pistols and trust them all. Would recommend this pistol to anyone wanting a medium frame truck or field gun for s.h.t.f. moments.
