I've owned this rifle for several years now. So far, the reliability is flawless and accuracy very good for a semi-auto rifle. Other than adding a Vortex scope, I've not changed or modified anything and the rifle has been performing very well. I also have the G2 Recon 308 which has been very reliable and accurate as well. In my opinion and based on my experience, DPMS G2 rifles are very good and very well priced.

Ordered and delivered with in a week. First impressions I was very impressed with the quality. This thing is beefy but you can feel every penny you spent. Ran 200 rounds through the rifle so far and haven't had a single feed or jamming issue with stock 20 round mag. Cheap to expensive ammo, this thing eats it all. Without a difference in accuracy at 100 meters on cheap optics. I am eager to try out a 50 round mag with a decent set of optics. I would highly recommend adding this .308 to your collection.

Pretty awful rifle. No problems with the transaction thanks to Buds. Initially I had problems with the fact that it is way over gassed (apparently a common observation). It ejects VERY hard, as in denting brass on the shell deflector. Also, to run it suppressed, you have to put on an adjustable gas block (per DPMS customer support). The trigger was not very good. Better than a stock AR trigger, but still had some creep and worst of all, repeatedly got stuck on reset. That made the rifle not fire reliably. Accuracy with Federal GMM 168 and 175gr ammo was okay, around 1 MOA but was definitely not a sub-MOA rifle. Then, with about 250 rounds through it, I had an out of battery discharge which blew out the bottom of the magazine, showered my suppressor with brass fragments, and permanently damaged the upper receiver. I informed DPMS and they asked me to send it in. Three months later they were not responding to my emails or phone calls. I filed a better business bureau complaint and finally a lawyer from Remington contacted me. He said I could pay $600 to have it repaired, but I would also need to sign a waiver saying I wouldn't sue them, that I would never tell anyone about this, and that I would never "disparage" Remington in any way. I refused to sign a waiver, and they finally agreed to just send back my broken rifle. So in short, mediocre accuracy, unreliable, requires modification just to function correctly, and suffered a catastrophic failure while still basically a new rifle. Then treated terribly by customer service.

What can I say...this is an awesome firearm..very well built and a head turner at the range. This rifle has a little bit of weight to, so it's not intended to be lugged around in the woods. Great job DPMS on a well built firearm and thanks to Buds for the outstanding service.

Hopefully I can edit this in the near future but here's my opinion so far. The rifle looks great, it’s not too heavy, the grip is nice and comfortable for my huge hands. I like the fact that it comes with semi-rubberized covers for the rails and a very nice bi-pod. The stock is adjustable for length and cheek weld so pretty much you can set this rifle up any way you want it. The recoil isn’t too bad, it kind of feels a little heavier than my M91/30. After firing 50 rounds you don’t really notice much but fire 250 rounds plus, your shoulder is going to be a little upset with you. As of now my only complaint are, I do not trust the magazine that came with it since the follower is extremely loose and the spring feels light. The forward assist does not seem to catch on the last bit of the bolt so I can’t get the gun into battery without taking it apart. I’m not sending the rifle back for repairs as after shipping , transfer fee, and background it’s going to be ridiculously expensive. I think this might be something I can fix myself with a little bit of research. Aside from that, I have only put 300 rounds through this rifle at a range between 25 yards and 50 yards. I have been using Gen 3 Magpul Pmags that I have had to modify a bit and out of 300 rounds so far I have had about ten rounds fail to feed which means I am going to have to try the factory magazine to see if it’s any better or worse. When I break in this rifle, try out a few accessories, and get to try it out at longer ranges I should be able to give a more accurate review. As with all things it takes a while for all the little quirks to present themselves. Thank you.

This is my second DPMS rifle and I couldn't be happier!! The workmanship and features are top notch for the price and Bud's service was smooth and fast as always. Now for the important stuff!! When I got to the range with it I used some inexpensive .308 ammo to break it in (shoot 1 round, clean, shoot 1 round, clean, etc. for 10 rounds- then clean after every 3rd round for 12 rounds, then clean after every 5th round for 20 rounds- no break-in compounds, etc.). Even during the break-in with very average ammunition it was holding slightly under and inch at 100 yards. When I switched to Black Hills 168gr. Match it dropped to near 1/2 inch for the 3 groups (5 rounds) I fired at that range. At 300 yards the groups were still just barely over an inch. No failures to fire or eject or other malfunctions!! Since 300 yds. was the limit of my range that's as far as I could test it but I have no doubt it will hold under MOA well beyond that!! I had a Bushnell Elite 3200 scope (10 x 40 with Mil-Dot reticle) mounted on it. Excellent performance for a semi-auto .308!!!

I am very impressed with the quality of the G2 SASS. The accuracy is sub MOA with FGMM ammo and jus t over MOA with 147FMJ ammo. The only issue I had with it is the ejection port cover retaining rod C clip departed the pattern. Not a big deal, but something that should be addressed. In the end, I would purchase it all over again.

For the Price and all you get with this Rifle. You ABSOLUTELY cannot buy a better Long range sniper rifle at any price. I put on a 4.5x18-42mm on the rail and at 300 range we have here in my area. I actually used some inexpensive PPU 308's to see how bad the dispersion rate would be. I was totally surprised that I was able to knock the hell out of the center of the target at 300. You want a Great Long Range Rifle at almost any price, seriously look at this DPMS 308...........

I've shot pretty much everything through this rifle without issue. I haven't had a chance to take it beyond 300 yds but I can shoot fist sized groups at 300 yds with wolf steel cased without much effort. I have a primary arms 4x14 FFP scope mounted on it and it's a really fun gun to shoot. Make sure all the bipod and scope mounting hardware are blue loctited because the 308 will shake them loose. Love this Rifle!!

Buds was great to deal with, my 4th gun from them. But the 1800.00 gun no, cleaned and lubed the gun per instructions, break in barrel per instructions. Only had the gun 1 month, at the range on 5/9/15. And gun jammed with a live round in it, took it to gunsmith ,because of live round, he called me the next day and told me to come down, that I was lucky that I had not been killed or severely injured, the barrel had only been hand tightened at the assembly, and had worked loose, the shell went off before battery ,destroyed the upper sheared off the pin that kept the barrel in line,, the gun shop is sending it back to dpms, but I was fortunate not to be injured,

DPMS should WARN left-handed shooters not to buy a 308 G2. Spent an afternoon doing the break-in period on an SASS. Fire a round, clean completely, etc. Probably wouldn't have fired many rounds otherwise, I wouldn't have fired many rounds. This rifle ejects directly into my cheek and shooting glasses. My shooting glasses lens on the right eye is damaged from the ejection. My face and neck are burned and abraded. I have a DPMS 5.56, and the rifle is awesome. That's why I chose the SASS. Further, while the rifle isn't broken in, accuracy pretty much sucks. If you are right handed, buy the rifle. If you are left handed, avoid this rifle.

This rifle is great! I've got over 100 rounds through mine so far with 0 malfunctions and have managed 3/4 MOA with Hornady 168 gr HPBT match ammo. Buds shipping was less than stellar. It took 2 weeks for my rifle to show up to my FFL which was way longer than I expected.
