Love this rifle and it never fails to receive envy from friends. The ONLY negative thing I have to say about it, and I saw this in reviews prior to my purchase, is that the edges of the lever are sharp. When I received the gun and played with it, I thought the other reviewers were crazy. Not sharp at all. HOWEVER, this 45-70 has a bit of recoil. The lever has drawn blood more than once across the back of my fingers. My lever now has a leather wrap and I have a matching pair of gloves...you know...like in the cowboy movies. You can't go wrong with Marlin or Bud's. (BTW, if you buy one of these, you have to shoot a watermelon with Hornady LEVERevolution at about 50 yrds. Just sayin')

1st; I wanted a quality cowboy gun that will stand up to anything in North America.
2nd; A gun I am proud to leave my son.

This is my idea of a carry 45-70. Smooth action and quick pointing cowboy styling.

Got it today. I planned ahead and had all the accessories and such before the rifle arrived. Needless to say, I was worried about the “new” marlin shop. This rifle is fantastic. I am so in love I don’t know what to do with myself. By itself it amiss marvel. I had already planned planned for some things and I couldn’t be happier. Buy it as soon as you can. Just flipping gorgeous.

Rifle arrived in excellent condition and quickly. Rifle is very attractive. Functions well and is accurate so far. Will be adding wild west guns trigger as usual for me and my Marlins. I may attempt to smooth the action, but only after firing several hundred rounds. The action was fairly smooth out of the box. And the sights were straight. It seems Marlin takes more pride in the cowboy models. Buds was awesome as usual.

Great brush gun, smooth action, well built and made in America doesn’t get much better than that. A 45/70 will put a smack down on anything you draw a bead on.

only issue I have with this rifle is the forearm has play. Everything else is great.

I'm glad that this rifle exists. It's great in concept and execution. Fit and finish were very good. Surprisingly, the the action and trigger were also very good - not to the level of custom work, but definitely a nice surprise and ready for the field. This rifle is as good, or better, than any "JM" stamped Marlin I own, and I've owned quite a few. I was also impressed with Bud's level of service and how pleasant and polite everyone was. Their chat function was very helpful. I look forward to doing business with Bud's again.

So , I so glad that Marlin is still alive , with that said , It is a special rifle , but , it looks like a kit gun , as far as the fit goes . I know that it is what it is , the forearm is what is not a good fit . I had waited to order this hoping in time they would get better , and they have , but still has a ways to got with , the fit and finish . Still have not shot it much , but it seems to work perfect and that's the important part. so , am I happy with it , yes ! Love all the lever guns , but love my Marlins . My 1895CBA arrived today. I ran a patch down the barrel and went straight to the range. It feeds/cycles Winchester and Hornady ammunition perfectly. Seems to be accurate too. I didn't have time to really fine tune the sights yet. Try again tomorrow! The wood to metal fit is fine as is metal finish. I've been shooting for fifty years and this gun is as nice or better than any previous Marlin I've owned. I'm well pleased with Bud's and Marlin.
