Remington 700 Overview

The Remington 700 was first introduced to the public in 1963. It was a collaboration of ideas gleaned from Remington’s very popular model 721 and 722. The model 700 is a superior rifle design that in many owners eyes has no equal in any way. The accuracy and durability is indeed the standard of all rifles. It is designed for mass production and has proved itself to be one of the most accurate out-of-the-box rifles on the market today. The standard Remington 700 comes with 3 to 6 round internal magazine, depending on the caliber. Some of the models have a hinged magazine floorplate, while others do not and are commonly referred to as “blind” magazines. This tactical model comes with detachable box magazine. It is commonly used by, civilian hunters, police and different military agencies around the world. The bolt face is recessed and the bolt cycles right over top of the magazine. The spent shell extractor is located on the bolt face, operated by a coil spring. There have been many models since the 700’s introduction, and in almost 30 different calibers. The bolt locks up with a 2-lug system to insure accuracy. Some of the variations sure enough effect the weight of this gun. Weight can be as little as 5 pounds, all the way up to the 8 pound range. The overall barrel lengths can vary from 20, 22, 24 and 26 inches. Different types of accessories are also available like bipod, shoulder sling and different kinds of telescopic sights.
