This is one of those guns that make writing easy. You don’t have to justify the model or the action, because both are tried and true. An action that has been around since 1958, hardly needs an introduction. When Winchesters are being sought after, everybody looks for the pre-1964 models as being the more desireable, because of the action. The Model 110 is still the same today as it was then. Sure, the Accu-Trigger is something that was added after the fact, and for that reason, you can say that buyers would desire the newer model over the old. That’s a good sign in the evolution of a gun. Now we get down to the meat of the gun, the .338 Lapua Magnum. Carlos Hathcock, the Marines most decorated sniper ever, made use of the .30-06 because that was the most predictable trajectory long range round that they recognized at that time. Later on they realized the superiority of the .308 and switched to it. The “08” was king of the hill for a long time, but the .338 Lapua Magnum came along and rewrote the sniper manual yet again. The last that I knew of, there were confirmed kills with it out to about 1500 meters (about 9/10ths of a mile).

Fluting on the barrel greatly improves rigidity, and speeds in the cooling down of the weapon. The Savage 110 FCP Bolt-Action Rifle comes with a Picatinny rail, for mounting the optical sight of one's choice. The overall rifle is done in matte black.



Sure the gun could be used for large game hunting, and some are sold for that, but why would you want to have to pack this behemoth after mountain sheep? There are short range rifles with more knock down for water buffalo (.375 H&H), and if you want to punish yourself for hunting, you can always go to the .458 Win Mag. I am 5’10 and about 195ibs. and have owned (past tense) both of these………..and the .458, in particular, was devastating not only to the deer, but to the dear hunter (may he rest in peace).
