M9: Ultimate Combat Pistol and World Defender

The word “ultimate” has long been common currency among firearm enthusiasts. But if there is a combat and tactical pistol for which this term is absolutely appropriate, it is the Beretta M9. This legendary semiauto handgun has not only won the historic contract with the US military in 1985, but has achieved a triumphant contract renewal after more than two decades of hard use in the world’s toughest and most extreme conditions, from the scorching deserts of Iraq to the frigid heights of the Afghan mountains. A contract renewal after this kind of use and abuse means a product that has kept its promises--and then some. Simply put, there is no pistol today that is as durable, reliable, dependable, easy to use, safe and accurate as the Beretta M9, the handgun that has rightfully earned the nickname of “World Defender.”

Dreamlike Durability and Reliability

When we talk US military standards, we talk hard numbers, not opinions. The M9 has been put through impossibly-rigorous durability and reliability tests that greatly exceed any kind of real-life situation--and it has passed them all with flying colors. For instance, it will keep functioning in temperatures as low as -40 F and as high as +140 F, and it consistently fires over 35,000 rounds of commercial ammunition before a failure. It will keep functioning reliably even after being buried in the sand or snow, or being repeatedly dropped on hard surfaces like asphalt or concrete. Beretta’s engineering experience and the quality of the steels used enable this kind of reliability, on which America’s servicemen and women depend every day.

Superb Out-of-the-Box Accuracy

Another official test that the M9 had to pass was at the firing range. Even here, the demands of the US military far exceed most conditions in which a handgun is used--and even here, the M9 delivers. As per government testing guidelines, this pistol is capable of firing 10-shot groups of 3 inches or less at a distance of 50 meters (approximately 55 yards), with consistency and reliability. With other brands and models of premium pistols, this kind of accuracy may only be attained with extensive (and expensive) modifications and customization with after-market parts, while the M9 offers it right out of the box.

Packed with Tactical Features

The M9 offers a variety of tactical features that make it equally safe, easy to use and dependable in the holster of military personnel as well as for home or personal defense. Its reversible magazine release enables the use of either hand for tactical magazine changes, while its ambidextrous safety-decocker makes the pistol flexible for right- or left-handed persons or for shooters trying out different gripping or shooting styles. Its Bruniton finish with military-style markings is highly resistant to sweat and corrosion, and after shooting, a tool-free disassembly latch makes it simple and quick to take the pistol apart for cleaning. These and countless other useful features make the M9 the choice of the US military, as well as individuals wanting the absolute best for sport or self-protection.

Gun came in with a deep half inch scratch on the receiver next to the trigger. It came with two magazines. Shoots under an inch at 15 yards. Seems to like Speer and American Eagle Ammo. Cycles fine with cheap ammo like Winchester white box but didn\'t group as well. The controls are smooth. The sights are the old dot and post \"snowman\" sights. There are indentions for 3 dot, you could technically fill the two back indentions and make a 3 dot.

1st time buying from Bud's; it won't be my last; I'll be back for sure. Smooth transaction with zero surprises. Multiple email updates with every stage of the sale and shipping. This should be The Business Model for how to conduct online sales. As far as the firearm, it's a Beretta; what could possibly go wrong. I'm glad that I finally pulled the trigger on this purchase (cheesy pun intended) Looking forward to some range time later this week. Until then, I'll keep admiring this thing. Thanks again Bud's!

Without a doubt the finest shooting handgun I own. The fit and feel of the M9 in my hand is incredible. I love the dot and post sights and had no problems adjusting to them. It shoots like a dream. I have run several hundred rounds through it since purchase with zero issues. It has performed flawlessly with every single brand of ammo I have fed it, from premium ammo to reman. I used it to take my CHL test with confidence.Breakdown and cleaning is a breeze. I would highly recommend this as an addition to any collection. If I was limited to one handgun (God forbid), this would be the one. I was so pleased with this Beretta that I purchased a used 84F Cheetah (.380) sight unseen. Just as happy with it. You can't go wrong with the full size Beretta.

Took my new M9 to the range today for the first time. Started out at 10 yds with a fresh target. First shot, bullseye. Second shot, couldn't see it. Third shot, couldn't see it. Walked up to the target, and the three holes could have been covered with a nickle. Dang!

Gun arrived soaking wet in oil. That's better than the alternative though. No damage whatsoever, and it's just gorgeous! The first thing that came to mind after shooting the first mag was SMOOTH. The workmanship on this gun is just flawless. Everything about it is perfect - except for the plastic guide rod. I ordered a blued steel one from Wolff, and put it in before I even fired it. The factory guide rod may be fine in other M9's, but it's not going back in mine! The action felt even smoother with the steel guide rod, and it looks great too.

This was my first purchase from Bud's, and it won't be the last! They have online firearm transactions down to a science. So easy, and never a doubt as to the status of your order. Simply a great experience in every way.

Great proven weapon, I should know, I carried one as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during my tours through Iraq and Panama. Same one I carried while I was on active duty except that the recoil spring rod on this one is of a plastic material and the one I carried in the Army was steel. That is ok I just ordered a steel spring and rod from Beretta to replace the plastic one. The weapon was shipped to me within 3 days from order to my hands, came with a hard blue case, 2 magazines and a lock. It feels good to have her back on my hip.
