I have to say first that Buds is the best place to purchase a firearm online. Easy, fast, great selection, and good prices. Having said that this rifle had plenty of problems that required 2 returns to the manufacturer, about 5 phone calls and hours of hold time. In the end the barrel had to be replaced before I even fired a shot through it. I am by no means a firearm expert but it took me about 5 minutes of trying to bore site this rifle to figure out there was a problem. I now have it bore sited and about 120 rounds through it without any other problems, very accurate at 100 yards. It just took about 4 months from when I purchased it to actually getting to fire it.

The GOOD: Shipping and processing was excellent. Price was fair enough.
Bluing is deep and looks good. The finish on the walnut stock is very nice. The checkering does appear to be pressed not cut. The action is smooth and lock-up is good.

The BAD: The rear stock fit was terrible. It sat 1/8th" below the tang on the left side which makes it uncomfortable to grip. The front fore arm is visually thicker on the right side. The sights are junk. Front sight has no notable dot, basically black and the rear sight is also all black with a very small slit for sight acquisition. Together forget any quick target reference in anything but bright light.

WOW, This gun is awesome. Read allot of mixed reviews before buying it about the craftsmanship since the marlin plant shut down and now buy built by Remington. This gun is built great. Haven't fired yet just got it today, but i'll tell you the detail and finish are flawless. The stock sits so flush it looks as if the gun was built around it. Action is also very smooth considering I haven't cleaned/ polished up the inside and oiled it yet. Once again buds was great! Ordered this gun last Friday night and it already arrived 1 week later, to AK where most companies take extra week. NOT BUDS, they yet again delivered. I recommend this gun to anyone.

Bought a year ago; had all sorts of issues; received back from marlin...while gun was being repaired, l purchased an oid 336 and am very happy with it. Will probably sell my marlington! Do yourself a favor and buy an older 336.

I got my Marlin and have put 100 rounds through it and have 0 issues...perhaps its the shooter no the weapon that is having problems! Marlin makes excellent weapons...3rd generation buyer in my family!

ive had this gun for a while now and it started off as my favorite. i shot my first bear with it, and itwas dead on with the iron sights and killed the bear no prob. but at 50 yds with a scope i got no consistency with federal ammo at all, 8 moa! also the extractor doesnt work anymor and wont eject. dont buy this spend the extra 100-200 on a semi-auto 308 it will b much better and u will love it or just use a 357 or mor for bear

Well here goes...I am a long time Marlin fan and it is very disappointing to write this review. This rifle came from the box with furniture issues...the stock had a gap wide enough to see the mechanism and the foregrip had a crack in it. The barrel, magazine tube and lever had scratches all over them. I cleaned the rifle and headed for the range. Ammo loaded nicely into the tube but was a struggle to chamber, I had to jack the lever back and forth to coerce the rounds in. First shot and dead on accurate!...jace the levewr and the empty does not eject??? OK so I pull it out manually and try again...jack lever back and forth...get her chambered and pow! hits the target...will not now I look at the ejector...the shell is not captivated by it...aha! found the reason. The primer have backed out of the brass...quite a ways out so much that it is forcing the empty out of the ejector which is causing the failure to eject...headspace issue on a new rifle...glad I didn't blow my face off, I call Marlin and they send a prepaid/insured UPS shippng now she's at the factory...I hope to see all issues rectified and the finish as it should be...One thing, Marlin's customer service people are top notch...well they tell you what you want to I'm waiting for my rifle...that should be the deal breaker
