Description:

Pistols created since 1912, in the house of STEYR MANNLICHER, are famous all over the world for their futuristic design, superb ergonomics, absolute safety, and extraordinary precision. The new M-A1 pistol line continues this tradition, while featuring many detailed innovations. The integrated Picatinny rail, in the front of the frame, is a modern and internationally applicable solution to mount quickly and easily a variety of laser-aiming, or illumination devices. With a total weight of only 766 g, (27oz) the new M-A1 pistol is extraordinarily light. The unique trapezoid sight offers a new dimension in rapid target acquisition. The sight's shape guides the eye onto the target, and thus the target is captured exactly and quickly The new innovative grip offers unsurpassed ergonomics, which results in a natural pointability. It optimally supports the natural posture of the wrist during shooting. Improved adhesion is provided by the special surface design.

Overall this is a decent hand gun, with some qualifiers, but I\'m glad I made the purchase. Pros and Cons as follows:

Pros:
1).Ergonomics: fits my hand extremely well.
2) Decreased perceived recoil/muzzle flip. This may be due to relatively low bore axis and design.
3) Trigger break: clean, crisp, not too heavy not too light. Excellent for a striker fired handgun.

Neutral:
1). Triangular sights. I didn\'t mind them. It seemed pretty easy to re-acquire the target. I shot as accurately with this gun as most of the others I own, maybe even a click better.

Cons:
1) In a ratio of only one out of six did the slide successfully stay rearward after the last round was fired. I have a suspicion this may be due to operator error--i.e. my thumb is over-riding the slide release. Even if that is the case, the gun is not very forgiving of operator error. I don\'t have this problem with any of my other handguns. No FTEs or FTFs.
2) Trigger reset: while the break is excellent, the reset is about the worst of any gun I own, and hard to detect while shooting at the range.

All told, a good gun. I\'m glad I bought it. But given some of these issues it gets four stars.

If you're looking at this, it's the one you want. Feels great, shoots great. 17 rounds. Easy takedown. Not very big. Was my first firearm purchase and I am very satisfied, put 200 rounds through on the first day.

all I can say as I finally found my pistol.over the years I've shot many pistols mostly of the steel and alloy variety.I've never really been a polymer wonder kind of guy.I've been a steyr fan for a long time i love there AUG of course they're HS .50 BMG but was unaware they even made pistols. So i had to try it I wasnt expecting much from a polymer pistol but wow was I blown away. The best egros on a pistol for me anyway period . my only complaint is the grip texture could be more grippy but an easy fix and you can buy grip tape pre cut just for the steyr series but it shoots fine without it. It just
fits my hand like a glove. The trigger is good id give it a 7 outa ten better then glock sorry guys just is. The sights are just a GOD send for me so much better then the 3 dot combat i wasnt sure if i would like them but i love them! They are fast sights you just pick em right up better then big dots too. The recoil is almost nothing no flip at all almost .it makes tighter groups in rapid fire then any other pistol ive shot it might as well come in full auto. If your thinking about getting one pull the trigger pun intended

If you don't like glocks... but want a glock-style pistol - GET THIS! The angle of the handle makes it feel like you're holding a revolver. It perfectly contours to the natural form of a human hand. This gun was built for rapid fire, so much so that I can only wonder why they havn't made it in full auto.

Three draw-backs though.
1. Sights are not conventional - allow for rapid follow-up shots, and high accuracy during rapid fire. But does not facilitate accurate groups (unless you get really used to it)
2. Proprietary mags. (all are 15 round mags with +2 extensions)
3. Mine has stovepiped 3 times in it's 600 round life so far. I used it to qualify on my conceal carry - had to shoot 5 rounds in 5 seconds... changed my stance for rapid fire... jammed on first round (i dont think any of the jams were the guns fault, but more my fault because of limp wristing)

If you're on the fence - GET IT.
If you like revolvers - GET IT.
If you don't like glocks but want a polymer gun - GET IT!!!

The M-9 is an absolute fantastic pistol!! I received the gun, put a little lube on the rails, and went straight out to shoot it. I put 250 rounds of cheap brown bear through the gun and it performed flawlessly. The Steyr is really soft shooting and has minimal muzzle flip. The gun and the barrel ride low in your hand which makes for a very comfortable and natural shooting weapon. I took this gun out with my glock 17, Springfield XD, and VP9. It held it's own and honestly was only rivaled by the H&K. The trigger on this weapon looks a little thick and bulky, but it has a nice crisp break and a good reset.

The Sights on this weapon are FANTASTIC! All you do is line up whatever you want to shoot with the point of the triangle. Sooo much easier than traditional 3 dot. This is clearly the best kept secret in 9mm. I've put off buying one for a while but I finally gave in and I couldn't be happier. It took about a week to get the gun, which is ok. Buds has something good going here!
