Rifle was good to shoot out of the box. It is recommended, however, to disassemble the bolt and clean before operation. It's pretty accurate at 100 yards with factory ammo, but you can expect better accuracy and consistency with hand loads. I've had issues feeding from the magazine, not quite smooth. The synthetic stock makes it light and comfortable for use in the field. The trigger is great out of the box. The bolt and feeding are not incredibly smooth, which are my main gripes with the rifle, but it is overall a good gun. Would recommend.

I bought this rifle a few years ago. I put a nikon prostaff 5 2.5-10x42 scope on it. I have found that it is more accurate with the 180 grain bullets vs the 150. I have shot 5 deer with it so far. Longest shot was 185 yards and it put the deers down every time with one shot. It's a basic field gun you don't have to worry about and gets the job done.

Remington does it again with the 783 in one of my favorite and historic, classic rounds that never let's me down. Mounted a Redfield scope on her and we went to town. Went hunting in Montana with her and tremendous success. A keeper! In God We Trust!

after a 100 yrs remington finally makes a great rifle. Shoots better than my 700 stainless. the trigger on783 is superior to x mark pro on 700. .5" groups with premier sirocco ammo. best rifle on earth for 300 bucks

An excellent rifle at an excellent price. This gun is like a Casio watch - Not a work of art or a thing of beauty, but accuracy, durability, and economy cannot be beat. It has the best trigger and best recoil pad of any rifle I have ever shot. Recoil on this .30-06 feels comparable to most .308s. Action was a little stiff at first. I cycled 100 rounds through it before firing, then mounted a 3x9 40mm Leupold scope and sighted it in. (Had a little trouble finding the correct scope bases. The top of the receiver is rounded, so bases for Remington 700 etc. will not work.) As suggested, I cleaned the barrel after every shot for the first 10 rounds. I have only fired 30 rounds through it so far, but it is much more accurate than I am. I would be interested to see what kind of groups it could shoot with a bench rest. This gun is not a piece of jewelry, but a solid, dependable, precise tool. Like the 870 shotgun, there's not much to go wrong. I don't see anything about it that I don't like.

This is my third purchase from buds and once again impressed with the shipping, customer service, and the quality of the product. I ordered the rifle and picked it up from my FFL on the 10th day. The rifle comes in a cardboard box with a gun lock, the bolt, and the rifle that is wrapped in a plastic bag. The action is very smooth and the rifle seems to be of great quality for a budget rifle. I recommend the shipping insurance which is under $10.00 and the $15.00 for the limited lifetime warranty through buds if you do decide to go with this rifle. After adding the scope and sling, this will make for the perfect budget rifle. Thanks again buds. I will be buying from you again soon!
