I'm really pleased with this shotgun. It's taken me a while to write this review because as soon as I paid the transfer fee at my local gun shop, I turned it right back over to them for a duracoat job. It took about 6 months to get it back. In the mean time I prepared 25 sabot 525 grain slugs and 25 #4 buck shot loads. Once I got it back and had a chance to get to the range, I loaded up the buck shot first. At 7 yards I had a pattern about the size of a tightly clenched fist. Then I moved on to the sabot slugs. At 25 yards each slug hit about 6" high and 6" right to the point of aim consistently. I was pleased with that. I also ran some #8 birdshot and a variety of "mistake" reloads with no issues whatsoever. The gun feels long but I think through consistent mounting practice that can easily be compensated for. Breakdown and cleaning was very easy. After about 75 rounds there was really no need to clean the gun (Mossberg recommends cleaning @ 200 rounds). Burnt powder residue was almost none-existent. I did run a bore snake with aerosol rem-oil through the barrel before leaving range so that helped cleaning of the bore to a minimum. All in all I feel that I received a very good home defense gun with lots of aftermarket options available for it. I would recommend picking this up.

Great value for the money, being an 8 shot 500 for just a little bit more than a Maverick. Well worth the little extra money, given the drilled and tapped receiver, tang safety (which I like way more than a crossbolt), and ability to change out fore ends, should I ever decide to do that. Great service and shipping from Bud's, as always. Very pleased with my transaction.

Perfect truck gun - which for me was its intended purpose. There are better pumps out there, but nothing that comes close from a quality/value standpoint. Fantastic deal from Buds. My first Mossberg, the action was a little rough at first, but simply cycling shotgun [unloaded] about 20-30 times smoothed it out considerably. I only have 2 3/4" shells, but it had no problems cycling Federal GameShock #4, Fiocchi Shooting Dynamics Target #8, and Federal Premium Law Enforcement Reduced-Recoil 00 and slug loads. The Buds purchasing/shipping process was effortless and without incident.

Product arrived in "new in box" condition. The action cycles smoothly and the recoil pad does it's job very well. To date, I have fired 75 rounds of buckshot, birdshot, and rifled slugs through the gun with no failures of any kind. I'm extremely pleased with this shotgun and would recommend it to anyone without reservation. Buds price was unbeatable!

This is my 2nd BGS purchase (my first was about 3 years ago - Ruger LCP with Viridian Laser). All I can say from my experience is that I have 0 complaints or worries for any future buys. To be honest, I always check my LGS first... but both times, Bud's prices were just too great to pass up. Buying a gun online is totally different than buying some sneakers or the latest Disney movie (for the kids, mind you) from a big name online retailer, and a lot more serious. That being said, my new Mossy came to my trusted FFL absolutely flawless. Not a single scratch, looked like it came straight from the factory floor. I've already shot a couple 100 rounds of bird/buck/slug shots through it and it's ready to protect my family if it ever needs to. Totally reliable gun from a totally reliable gun seller.
