Good service by buds as usual. Pistol has nice fit and fired 100 rounds of fmj ammo no problems. The mag that came with the pistol is pretty crummy. I tried two different brands of hollow point ammo (the new sig ammo 125 grains and 147 grain Buffalo bore), neither of which would feed properly. Both got stuck in mag and would not feed after the 2nd or 3rd round. I tried three different magazines including mec-gar and pachmyer mags to no avail.

Well; It took a little longer than I'm used to with Buds. 12 days to get my 38 Super 1911. I'm used to 2 or 3 days. But--I understand about the weather. After inspection, I took my new 1911 home and began the cleaning process! The gun was well packed in Cosmoline and packed very well in the plastic RIA case. Fit and finish is superb for a firearm in this price range! While in the cleaning process. I replaced the factory grips with "Double Diamond" walnut grips, OOOOOH what a difference! This one rivals my Colt Mil Spec in looks!! The action is smooth, with no glitches. A little fingernail polish on the front sight solves the "Mil-Spec" sight issue, and she is ready for the range! 200 rounds without a hitch! No FTF, No FTE, nothing but hitting where I aimed the gun!!!
This is not my only 1911,(I have 6) I was going to buy another Colt--BUT--I opted to go with RIA after spending a little time researching their line. I'm glad I did. I saved about $400. No I won't run thousands of rounds through this gun, but, I will shoot her and I will have fun!! Isn't that what it's all about anyway?

Shoots well out of the box. No malfunctions with over 150 rounds. A well made 1911 at a great price.

RIA is building amazing pistols for the money! This .38 Super is pure "spec" when it comes to being all steel where steel is "authentic," and this is true of all the "GI series" models!
Fit and finish is superb, as it function. These pistols simply do NOT jam!
The .38 Super has the edge as it were when it comes to mechanical functioning and does so with boring regularity.
The .38 Super is the round John Moses WANTED to build from day one...and the popularity of the 9x19 "proves" the "rightness" of J.M. Browning's thinking!
At Bud's prices, EVERYONE should be snapping up RIA products as fast as possible!
I've shot about 400 rounds through my RIA .38 Super and it has yet to malfunction in any way. Granted this is what we "expect" from a Glock, but this is also what we generally do NOT expect nor receive from 1911 type pistols. Rock Island Armory is "setting the curve" so to speak...I now own three...two in .45 ACP and the .38 Super and all have functioned with 100% reliability since new!
The Parkerized finish is spotlessly applied. Slide-to-frame fit is perfect...even feels "lapped" onto the frame. Trigger action is superb...maybe, MAYBE 5# and on the Tactical ZERO perceptible movement.
Bud's offers a generous lay-away program that makes buying guns EASY!
Don't let the price fool you...BUY the RIA brand at $200-$500 LESS than domestic and ENJOY that it will have a failure rate LOWER than other name-brands!

Very pleased with this weapon. The finish is great and the fit is fantastic. It's accurate and smooth and a heck of a lot of fun to shoot. I've got 1911s that cost twice as much that don't function as slick as this does. The shell casings didn't have a mark on them and this is the only 1911 I've got that I can use the slide release to release the slide without having to use two hands. Could be a lighter recoil spring. Don't know, but it functioned flawlessly first time out. Highly recommended.

This thing looks, feels, shoots great and is real accurate. I am very happy with it. I ordered a Chip McCormick 10rd mag ahead-of-time because some people online mentioned they had problems with the factory mag that comes with it. Though the factory one seems tinny compared to the McCormick, both mags work great and the latter holds one more round. I also was thinking of ordering new grips and sights but now that I have it, I changed my mind.
