Awesome powerful handgun! 357 mag is sweet! shooting 38sp is a great way to shoot and save $. Very accurate, took it to the range today and shot 50 357 and 50 38 SP and was flawless! I am very happy! Took 5 business days to "clear" check but then was shipped in 2 days!

Outstanding service and product! First time ordering from Buds, and I read a ton of negative reviews AFTER I had placed the order, freaked me out. Placed the order on a Sunday afternoon. Two e-mails within a short time, order processing and order moved to shipping, same day. Arrived at my local FFL dealer Tuesday, picked it up that afternoon! Lightning fast processing and shipping and receipt, especially ordering on a weekend, blew me away. Had not even planned to check the tracking number until later in the week, but just happened to,and shocked that it was already there from Sunday afternoon to Tuesday early in the day. I live in middle TN, so that helped I guess. I don't see how you can get better service than that. And no local dealer could touch the price I paid. For an additional 8 bucks, you can get 100% replacement cost if lost or damaged in shipping. Outstanding!

The Smith & Wesson 686 Plus is a work of art. I got the 3" barrel length, mainly as home defense. And a 7-round cylinder is awesome, compared to other makes or models with 5 or 6. Exceptionally well-made revolver. Hammer, trigger, cylinder mechanics are world-class. When you cock the hammer for single action, be ready to go when you put your finger on the trigger, it's a light touch and very short movement. Smooth in double action and rolling the cylinder. This is a heavy hoss of a handgun, not for the weak or frail. Big difference from using polymer frame semi-autos. But the weight helps with recoil on magnum rounds. Shoots standard .38 (very low recoil), the hotter .38 P (little more kick), and of course .357 magnum (the stronger recoil you would expect, but less than what I would have thought). Came with a S&W logo hard shell case. Top-of-the line revolver as far as quality, you can't beat it. Sights were dead-on right out of the box. First time shooting I got a tighter group than with a S&W .22 Compact I have for inexpensive practice / target shooting. The weight just makes it stable as heck when you raise and aim. Amazing gun! Couldn't be happier. Getcha some!

A great experience and the gun arrived in perfect condition

This is my first purchase through Bud's, and I could not be happier with their service. I ordered this on a Tuesday morning, and it arrived at my FFL Thursday of that same week (I am in CT). Very satisfied with this purchase. Love the heft of the L frame, and the machining is great. The only reason I gave this four stars instead of five is because the sights were slightly off out of the box (which, needless to say, is a simple fix).

Ordered on Monday, arrived at my FFL on Wednesday. I can't imagine faster or better service than that. (On top of which I received numerous email confirmations regarding the order and tracking along the way.)

As luck would have it it's like a monsoon outside and looks like it will be for the coming week so I can't comment on the performance of my new 3" 686 Plus...however, if it's anything like my own or (previously) issued S&W revolvers and semi-automatics it should prove to be true and dependable.

This was my first experience with Buds Gun Shop. I'm certain it won't be my last. (I guess there's a good reason why they've earned a 9.18 rating out of a possible 10 from over 14,000 reviews on resellerratings.com)

buds beat the cost of all but one local gun dealer and this includes the fee I will pay to recieve the gun . I'd check all prices and add FFA fees. The customer service representitive actually took time to find the least expensive fee for me in my area. Double action gun Range charges $75! She directed me to Motor City Guns whos fee is $25! That's a big savings! This was excellent service provided from Buds Gun Shop!

On the criticle side: bud's statists for the gun were scant. Another dealer was more detailed. It was there I discoved my 686 will be a square butt. This was important to know if you want to change the grips!

as Buds does not open the gun package from the dealer before postage to you FFA, They aren't responsible for a bad mproduct, so check it carefully before accepting it!

I rate Buds 8-10 for their service and prices and recomment buying from them.

I already own and love a 6" 686. I'd been wanting a Plus in a shorter barrel for my extended deep woods excursions. I waited for a while for a 2 - 3" 686 to come available, and bought this revolver in mid-February.

I didn't notice during delivery inspection that the front sight's pin is missing. I found some metal shavings where the front blade sight sits in its mount. It's probably related to the fact that the gun shot way low out of the box, like 6 - 8" low at 10 yards. A sight pin is a $2 part, and anyway, I'm planning to replace the front blade with Meprolight night sights, so I'm not concerned about this.

I've spent about 6 weeks with it now, put close to 1000 rounds through it. Once I got it sighted in, it shoots pretty well. It's not the long-range threat my 6" 686 is, but it easily groups a couple of inches at combat distances and it's a lot easier to carry.

The trigger is crisp and good, as you'd expect from an S&W, and the 3" barrel length gives it good balance. At 35 oz, it's heavy enough to absorb a lot of .357 recoil. I did a fairly exhaustive test with different brands and weights of ammunition and found it relatively pleasant and accurate with most 158g bullet weights. I've settled on Speer Gold Dots as a carry round.

The Remington 125g HTP JHPs shot pretty well also. This is an old-school, mean factory load, but the 686 is heavy enough that it's just spicy, not brutal. I think that would be your very best manstopper among commercial defensive ammunition. I'm going to stick with the Gold Dots personally.

In the woods, I carry it inside the waist, in the small of my back in a Triple K #314. Fits great underneath a long shirttail shirt and pack, but is still handy.

Very happy with the purchase from Buds. The 686 plus 3 inch is balanced so well and great for conceal carry. Also I like that no one has handled the brand new guns from Buds, my 686 have no turn rings, flawless new, unlike many gun shops where everyone has handled the weapon and possibly dry fired. Buds is the only way I will go in the future!

I would like to let the world know what a great experience buying from Bud's. Very easy to deal with and I could not have gone to get the gun myself as fast as they got it to me. And as far as the gun goes, well its a smith & wesson how could you go wrong ? I will do more business in the future with Buds.
