One nice carry pistol and being a Ruger and 1911 is a Plus Plus

I've wanted this handgun for awhile after my experience with Ruger's commander length 1911 in 9mm that I've had for a couple years now. This gun doesn't disappoint! It's fun to shoot, accurate, and pleasing to look at. I love 1911s and this one couldn't be any better for the price. Sure, you can pay a lot more for a 1911, but why would you? I love the officer style 3.6" barrel combined with the all stainless steel slide and frame. If you're looking for this type/size of 1911 in .45, look no further. Ruger makes the best 1911s in the sub $1k range. You won't be disappointed!

This is one fine firearm. The pictures do not do it justice. The grips are really cool looking and very comfortable. It is accurate and easy to shoot. fit and finish are great. Cleaning is a breeze it breaks down like a modern handgun and not like a traditional 1911 so it is a bit easier to deal with.

This gun is great. Has not failed. Very smooth. Make sure to clean the gun first before you fire it.

Great service . delivery and tracking information from Bud's . However, I received the pistol wrapped in a plastic bag. There was no carrying case or sample casing validating test firing .

I am unbelievably happy with this firearm. I own a Beretta 92F, a Springfield XD Sub-Compact, a SW 6906, a SW model 66 revolver, and a SW Bodyguard and this RUGER SR1911 OFFICER is my new carry and my new favorite firearm. (Oh, and I got it from Buds, and it arrived PERFECT and with perfect, quick customer service, and about $100 less than the local stores. Thanks Buds!) First of all, its gorgeous, trim, solid, tight, and an unbelievable carry gun given it's a 45, it holds 7+1, and it's got just the right amount of weight. It's heavier (in the right way) than my poly frame guns given it's got an all-steel frame (I like a gun made of steel), so it feels "more real" and it weighs enough so you can tell it's there, but not too much that it drags you down. It's long enough but short enough that given it's trimness, it just disappears on you... but you can vaguely tell it's there. Shooting it was amazing. First shot bullseye and the whole first two mags tore the center of the target out. Very accurate. Novak sights line up perfectly. I shot two boxes of 50 and had only one misfeed as a brand new 1911 with the ball ammo. I had no misfeeds with Winchester Ranger ammo. I did have 2 misfeeds with Federal HSTs, but I was warned that might happen. I could not discern any recoil difference between a full size colt and this shorty. Mag swaps a breeze. Sights line right up on a draw. About the most accurate gun I've shot. The extra weight of the steel frame makes a solid gun that absorbs the recoil well without being heavy (I've worn it for 2 days straight and it's way less burden than my Beretta (which i love) but it's as small as my SW 6906 or my XD subcompact (just a little longer barrel which I'm grateful for). My only criticisms (2) include: #1: a quick fix through my gunsmith son, which is that I prefer a stiffer safety. I carry "cocked & locked" and I want a very deliberate disengagement. It's fine... but it comes off a little too easy. If you've tried the safety on a Dan Wesson, you might say, "Now THAT is perfect. Doable, but not by accident." That's what I want and I'm told it's not much gunsmithing work to stiffen the click. So I'm going to do that. #2: The jury is out on the mags. When I hand-wrack the silde, I get a jam on round #5. But hand cycling is not the same as firing. I want ZERO failures to feed, and in my assessment, I got 1 legit failure to feed, which was bullet #5. But only once in about 70 rounds. Meh. I want zero but the gun isn't broken in yet. I am going to test out a few mags, but I think the two will likely be okay with some breaking in. (Above I said 2 HST misfeeds, but again, I was warned. Winchester Rangers did great. SUM: Small, gorgeous, deadly, accurate, and odds are... 8 is enough! Especially when the 8 are all 45s. I love this gun and I hit bullseye after bullseye.

Great gun for the money. Beautiful workmanship and finish. Did a trigger job, fitted an EGW oversize fp stop and changed out the factory recoil spring assembly for an EGW one with 22 lb. flat wire spring. Slide functions much smoother and makes the gun much softer shooting. Now have an absolutely terrific pistol for less than $800. You can't go wrong with Ruger.

This is a fine 1911! The fit and finish are remarkable. The sights are clear and distinct with quick acquisition. No malfunctions, right out of the box! Ruger does it well, and they hit a home run with this 1911.This one is a keeper.
