The Gunsite Scout Rifle has a forward mounted Picatinny rail that allows for the mounting of modern optics and a soft rubber recoil pad with buttpad spacers allowing the rifle to be properly sized for different shooters. Developed with Gunsite, this rifle is "Gunsite Approved" and features logo engraved on the grip cap and name roll marked on the receiver. It has an accurate sighting system with ghost ring adjustable rear aperture sight and a protected non-glare post front sight. Patented integral scope mounts, machined directly on the solid-steel receiver, provide a stable mounting surface for scope rings, eliminating a potential source of looseness and inaccuracy in the field (scope rings included). The Gunsite Scout also includes a rugged, one-piece, stainless steel bolt; three-position safety; studs for mounting sling swivels; medium contour cold hammer-forged free floating barrel; glass reinforced nylon trigger guard and magazine well.

Nice rifle! This is my favorite, in my collection. It will be going with me on any camping trips or outdoor adventures where risk of encountering dangerous animals is possible. I like the muzzle brake, but it makes it more blasty than I want it to be, and wish they offered the synthetic composite stock with the flash hider. Kinda annoying since Ruger won’t let you buy the flash hider, post purchase, if your serial didn’t include it in purchase, and you happen to live in an authoritarian state where know nothing types in power have decided to limit access to things they don’t actually understand. At any rate, if you are looking at this rifle, you are likely familiar with Lt. Col. Cooper’s vision of a survivalist rifle. This fits the bill almost perfectly. You won’t regret buying this rifle, so ‘pull that [purchase] trigger’ so you can actually pull this perfectly crisp trigger, and see for yourself how great the RGS Scout rifle really is!

Purchased this 4 years ago. I've always wanted a Scout rifle, set this up with a Burris 2x-7x Scout scope. Getting used to the Scout scope took some practice but has paid off in being able to keep both eyes open while tracking a moving deer. The rifle has performed flawlessly with good accuracy. I've never had a problem with feeding using ACSI ,Ruger or Magpul mags. This is a fantastic Northeast woods deer rifle, small and compact. The polymer stock keeps the rifle/scope package at about 7.25 lbs. Perfect in a tree stand or carrying through the woods. I've killed 5 deer in the 4 years I've hunted with this rifle, I just love it!

I love this rifle. It is a nail driver with iron sights. I have not put an optic on it, and im unsure if I will. I love iron sights on bolt guns.
This rifle has impressed me in every way. If you're looking for a scout rifle or a bolt gun, this is it.

Great service from Buds.....This is one tough weapon,,,Control Round Feed (action is not the smoothest but good), accurate out to good distances when you consider such a short barrel. Great for it's purpose.

This is a really great version of this rifle. The polymer stock makes it about a pound lighter than the laminate wood stock. And the muzzle brake used on this model, instead of the flash Hider on all other models, actually does help tame the recoil, even if it does make it a bit louder. I used some inexpensive PPU match ammo and this thing drilled out the Bullseye. The trigger is a little heavy for a bolt gun, but a consistent 4 1/2 pounds. But there are aftermarket triggers for less than $200 that will get the trigger pull down as low as you want. I wanted a relatively lightweight, jack of all trades rifle and this is definitely fitting the bill. And definitely get the Ruger aftermarket polymer magazines! They are so much better and lighter than the stamped steel piece of junk that it comes with. Why it didn’t come with the polymer magazines to start with is a mystery to me. If you want to know the history and philosophy of the scout rifle just do an Internet search for Colonel Jeff Cooper. This entire firearm is based on his concept of the perfect, simplistic bolt action rifle. Good job Ruger.

GREAT rifle, mounted a 1.5-4 leupold scout scope with quick detach rings and it is capable of moa or better groups with match ammo. balances well and the free floated composite stock is great. replaced the muzzle break with a flash hider and the rifle is still very shootable. will be a great shtf/liberty rifle.
