Hi Craig and welcome. No, this model has a 22" Carbon Steel Heavy non-Threaded Barrel with a 1:9 Twist Rate. Cheers and stay safe!

Craig, no the barrel is not threaded. It does have a heavy varmint style barrel so a gunsmith could easily thread it for you. I just bought the Savage 93r17 btvs Wich is basically the same rifle but bolt action and fantastic rifle, very accurate. I also plan on getting a gunsmith to thread it. Sorry but hope this helps.

Unfortunately, due to the thumb hole, this is not NY legal. They figure it makes it more like a pistol grip but to me, as a NY'R, it's ridiculous!!!

Great little gone doesn't come with iron sights but can mount a scope on it as is equipped with partial rail great for target practice or small game fun gun to shoot and ammo won't break the bank

I collect guns, and this savage .17 HMR, was a wonderful addition. It comes with a beautiful Boyd’s stock that is extremely comfortable. It’s a real pleasure shooting, very happy with my purchase.

Love this gun. Been procrastinating all summer and the rebate pulled me in. No trouble with factory mag and the 25 round Butlers are great. Sighting in at indoor range 25yds (cuz Iowa weather sucks right now) I swear I can cover the 10 shot group with a pencil eraser. Hornady 17gr. Buy a lot of them, it’s just way to easy to pull that trigger.

Savage A17 is just a great rifle. It provides an excellent way to confirm and improve your shooting skill set without breaking the bank or your shoulder. Scopes are available that are specific to this rifle. Very price effective ammo that leaves with a crack and tracks to a hundred yards straight.

Only had one (1) opportunity to shoot the gun since I bought it and I love the A17. Of course it was a cold day and I wrecked my thumb loading the rotary magazines and there were a number of misfires and failure to eject situations, but once I got a 100 or so rounds through it, it settled down and we had a good day. I put the BSA sweet 17 scope on it and it took about ten (10) rounds to get it sighted in as this is one flat shooting caliber. I used the Hornady V-mas ammo and it worked well. Will be trying different ammo to see what the gun likes. as this is becoming my favorite rimfire gun already.

I am very pleased with this rifle from Savage. The accuracy is fantastic. Incredible value for the money Fit and finish first class. I have recommended this rifle to several friends who have shot mine and were thoroughly impressed. Shooting golf balls at a 100yrds ....all day long!
