Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley 4.625" 454 Casull Revolver - Stainless/Silver, 4.625" Barrel, 5 Rounds, Wood Grips

As with my other Ruger revolvers, this one is exceptionally well-made and solid. It is heavy, but what else do you want or expect in that caliber? When shooting some .45 colt ammo in the Ruger, I was able to hold 10 for 10 in a 3” dot at 25 yards. I then loaded up some 310 grn SWCGC from Montana Bullets to slightly less than max and the recoil was - well, brutal. But what else do you expect with such a hand cannon? Going to load it down a bit to where recoil is a bit more manageable using 300 grn Swift Aframes and then carry it with when working with the Forest Service in the Gallatin in Montana next year.
The only downside that I’ve found about this Ruger is there is considerable creep in the trigger and I’m having a gunsmith home the trigger for me next week. The trigger pull weight was perfect for such a large caliber.
I’ve waited several years for this - and finally found one at Bud’s!

Great looking gun. Haven't shot it yet but the heft and feel is great. It will need a trigger job to suit my tastes.

Just purchased the .454 with the 4 5/8 barrel. Fit and finish of the gun was excellent. The Ruger is heavy, but it must be stout to contain the .454 recoil. Recoil is quite pronounced with full house .454 loads. Yet, with this revolver you can shoot milder .45 Colt loads with comfort. The gun would be excellent for Bear defense or a pack gun when hiking. It's short barrel is easier to utilize in brush. I often carry a .480 Ruger and will be carrying the .454 as an alternative as well. If you reload, you can really utilize the versatility of the .454 and tame the rounds down a bit. It would also make a great camp gun ( with .45 Colt or .454 Casull loads) as well. Would recommend the gun and Buds delivery was quick and fast.

The Super Blackhawk frame felt robust and sturdy but the fit and finish was left much to be desired! The grips are not fitted to frame very well and the grip frame on mine did not match up flush with the main frame. The back of my grip frame had deep scratches on it almost like someone took a screwdriver to it! The most disappointing thing is I haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet as upon receiving it I clearly noticed something was very wrong with the timing so I immediately sent it back to Ruger for warranty work! I like Ruger brand of firearms just not sure why my 454 Casull looked and operated as though it was rushed in being manufactured!
