I had never handled a .45 Colt of any type. .45ACPs? - oh, yeah! By the bucketful! This Ruger Bisley Blackhawk is a whole other animal, let me tell you. I've had three other revolvers, but this one is hands down my favorite. It has a hand hold that, for me, puts it right on target every time. Sights line up easily, with no fumbling or adjustment of my grip. The weight helps tame the recoil and lessen the barrel flip. It carries well in a crossdraw holster, which is my personal favorite for horseback. I love reloading for it, as well. And did I mention it has the convertible cylinder in .45ACP? Talk about yer twofer!

the pro's- cylinder end shake was nil, a very tightly fitted gun. Barrel/Cylinder gap was ~.05 to .06", good enough. Cylinder throats are on the tight side, but leave plenty of meat to be opened up to a .452-.453". The trigger, while understandable heavy, was very crisp with little creep from the box. it wont need much work
the con's- grip fit leaves much to be desired, they'll be replaced. The biggest buggaboo was the forcing cone, it was visibly cut off axis. A quick call to Ruger had the UPS man at the house the next day to pick it up. we'll see how it looks when it comes back.
The gun certainly has potential, proper dimensions will help show what its real potential is.

This is my new favorite gun. Having the ability to shoot 45LC and 45Acp makes this gun a blast, no pun intended. Also, 45acp is far cheaper than 45LC which makes this an economical choice too. If you are thinking of getting one, stop thinking and buy one. I have had excellent accuracy with both cylinders. Changing out the cylinders is as simple as it gets, takes no more than 10 seconds. The gun has a quality feel, the finish could have been better as it had some sharp edges on the frame behind the cylinder. Nothing a fine stone didn't take care of with 5 minutes of work. With 45acp rounds recoil is almost non existent, with 45LC recoil was less than a .357mag and the bisley grip made everything manageable. This is just a really fun gun. Buds was great as usual.

Nice revolver, only have done some plinking with it so far about 100 rounds. Extraction of empty cases seems a little hard, have to pull them out with my fingers. Machining in chambers looks a little rough, but nothing I cant live with. Would rate 5 stars if empties came out better.

I bought this because I wanted a 45 Colt Blackhawk with a Ruger Bisley grip and the 45 ACP cylinder was the clincher. It’s a pretty gun and I am quite pleased with it. The trigger is a bit stiff, but the gun shoots straighter than I can. I have fired HSM and Black Hills 45 Colt cowboy action loads in it so far and it’s performance was great. The HSM, for some reason, gave me some problems with cylinder rotation, but the Black Hills was flawless. I fired the Black Hills second, so I know it was ammunition compatibility and not the gun. Changing cylinders is fairly easy. I have not tested it with 45 ACP yet but I can recommend it unequivocally as a 45 Colt.

Nice gun, fit and finish is excellent. Fun to shoot ( no boomers yet) both cylinders shoot close to point of aim. Need to shoot it more. Bud's was great as always...

Pretty good gun..Not sure the fit is up to the Ruger standards I'm used to. The loading gate was extremely tight. The base pin was very difficult to work to remove the cylinder. The gun looks awesome though. I will polish the parts that don't fit quite right see if that helps.

This is best revolver I have ever shot. Great balance and handling. Accurate out 50 ft with 250 grain 45lc first time fired with no site change out of box. Quality outstanding. 45acp like shooting 38 sp. very happy with Buds purchase.

WOW! JUST WOW! I have only shot it a couple of times, but I don't need to. I just love this gun. Satin Stainless Steel, heavy, a beast of a gun! Sights are good, finish is great. Grips are great in my hand, and I have large hands, so I needed a large gun. I didn't realize it from the picture, but this Bisley Blackhawk matches my M77 MkII .338 wingmag rifle perfect. same satin finish, same wood color on the grips as the laminate on the rifle. I have always wanted a Blackhawk, and did I say this one was great?!! LOL! being able to carry .45acp as plink and self defense (Hornady 200gn xtp in it right now in the acp cylinder) and then handload .45lc beast rounds is perfect. Buy this gun if you want a .45 conversion. there is no comparison. it was only $60 more than the rose gripped .45lc only version. you can't send it back to Ruger and get a cyclinder made for 4 times that. Can't wait to put the sights on a buck in the brush of Western NC this fall!
