Ruger Blackhawk Convertible Blued 5.5" 357 Magnum / 9mm Revolver - 5.5" Barrel, 6 Rounds

I have had a pair of these for 3 years now and they have performed flawlessly with heavy use. I shoot Cowboy Action Shooting using .38 Cowboy. I've run 9mm thru for some plinking and target practice, but I've figured shooting 9's isn't the way to practice for CAS. I did replace the springs and highly recommend that. And, I gave them new wooden grips for style and comfort. REALLY, they are well made, accurate and stay dialed-in (as well as being, beautiful). These have performed above expectations.

I am thrilled with this revolver! I purchased it to shoot just 9mm since I already have several Blackhawks in .357. I am handloading a light load using WSF powder and the Missouri Bullet Co. 124 grain lead roundnose sized .356. Accuracy is superb. I had to raise the rear sight quite a bit to shoot to point of aim at 25 yards.
I highly recommend this revolver.

Have fired a total of 348 rounds of .357, .38, & 9mm through the gun/cylinders. Not a problem encountered as I hoped given my experience with my four other Ruger single action revolvers, the oldest one a Blackhawk .357 purchased new in 1964 & still shooting like it just came out of the box. I did have to do some tweaking of the sights on the Convertible for both elevation and azimuth, but that didn't take long and the gun is a pleasure to shoot. I wanted to try the dual cylinder concept with a 9mm cylinder because I reload all the ammunition I shoot, and thought it would be useful to be able to "collect" the 9mm brass at the shooting table instead of always having to collect it off the floor. Must say that I like that feature. Others have mentioned that shooting 9mm through the gun is not quite as accurate as the .357 & .38 rounds. I found that to be true, but didn't find the accuracy difference significant enough to cause disappointment with the gun. I am certainly going to keep it in my collection, and plan to shoot many more rounds of all three calibers through it.

Was very disappointed in this firearm. I have owned Ruger guns for most of my life and expected this gun to be a good one as well. The gun is beautiful and shot very well for the first 20 rounds. However, and to my surprise, on about the 21st shot I felt something come down on my head and roll down my arm. Unfortunately, it was the front sights after shooting only 20 rounds of 9mm. This was totally unacceptable for a $600 gun and I was not at all impressed with the customer service at Ruger's either. Of course, this does not take away any at all from the great customer service at Bud's. I have bought probably around 20 hand guns from Bud's, and still feel that Bud's is the cheapest around with the best customer service anyone could ask for. Once again, very satisfied with Bud's, but very disappointed with Ruger. This will be the last Ruger firearm I will ever purchase. This may not be everyone's experience, but it was mine. Beware of such an expensive gun and I will follow up on Ruger's decision on how to make my purchase right. God bless all who buy this gun and I hope your experience was better than mine. Received the Ruger in a timely fashion and in good working order. Upon inspection found the revolver to well made. Fit and finish are superb. It's a beautiful gun and it feels great in the hand. Took it home and ran a cylinder of 38 spec., then a cylinder of 357 mag. Then ran several cylinders of 9 mm. I was shooting at targets of opportunity like rocks and chunks of wood from about ten yards. I soon ran out of targets as this revolver is very accurate. This one is definitely a keeper. I would buy this one again.
