Is the Picatinny Rail (Mil-STD 1913) it says it comes with, speaking of the rail on the bottom? Or does it come with one I can slap a red dot on when it arrives?

Tyson, it is the accessory rail on the bottom. There is a rear sight replacement option to add a Red Dot available (Note there is an old and newer rear sight slot) : https://opticsfactory.com/hang-gun-accessories/glock-mount

Its speaking of the rail on the bottom in front of the trigger. This doesnt have anything to add a red dot. You could purchase items separately to add a red dot like a dovetail red dot mounting plate that replaces your rear sight. But as is you cant add one. Sorry but hope this helps.

Can the safety and magazine release be moved to the other side?

Craig, the Taurus has a reversible magazine release but not safety Sir.

The best firearm for self defense is the one that you will carry regularly and can shoot well. People will argue manufacturer preferences and calibers until the cows come home. There's no substitute for proper training and PRACTICE. That being said, this pistol would make a fine self defense weapon. The safety is very positive and tactile. Hope this helps.

Everybody likes something different ,...and I mean EVERYBODY. The 9mm is an excellent defensive round.... that being said a Taurus would not be my first choice ... far from it. There are lots of good guns on the market today ....read, research and talk to others that own and shoot a lot. Try to shoot as many guns as you can before you make your choice ...check into some local classes or a good trainer to learn from.

Stephen, same firearm, different capacity magazines. Stock level likely plays the biggest part in the price difference as Buds prices are tied to stock level.

Levi, this will come off as soon as it is restocked. Once a firearm get to a certain low level of stock, it usually move over to Team Buds only. It's a member benefit but, will be moved back to regular purchase when restocked.

Is this Taurus the PT111 or G2C?

Gilbert - this is the G2C, which is the new, upgraded "Gen2" version of the PT111. One could say this is the model PT111G2C. The changes between the two are generally cosmetic. The G2C grip is a bit more 'sticky'. Taurus upgraded the trigger bar, making it stronger in the G2C. The G2C has no internal lock. Hope this helps clear it up for you.

That is a G2c. The 2 mentioned are extremely similar. The G2c is basically a rebranded PT111.
