Weatherby Vanguard Gray/Black 6.5-300 - Blue/Black, 26" Barrel, 3 Rounds, Synthetic, Griptonite Stock

after 3 weatherby Vanguards, I can honestly say this one is no different. one of the best rifles you can buy in this price range, sub moa groups as advertised, a smooth action, metal trigger guard & floor plate. a ridged stock that wont flex on you, a nice 2 stage trigger. Ive got other rifles that cost more but i can honestly say Im very found of the weatherby vanguard.

Excellent value and quality. Bud’s ordered expeditiously and was quickly received. Bud’s had the best price around. Staff were very customer-care and service-oriented. A+++++ Bud’s is my go to place and purchased another rifle from Bud’s after this one. Young hard-charging Marine at back counter closed the deal at much more than the 6.5 rifle. Great Cartridge design, however…. Do not buy one unless the barrel is threaded. It’s a speed demon and flat shooting but it has more felt recoil than my 300 WBY and 300 PRC. The gun shoots as advertised but it packs a punch on both ends.

A great gun it's my favorite accurate and flat shooter

Packaging was nice and shipping prompt. However there are numerous scratch marks on the bolt. Not what I expected from Weatherby. I have the same model rifle that has been hunted with for around 15years and it doesn't show any signs of wear on the bolt or scratching like the new rifle I purchased does. I will be contacting Weatherby to see how we can reconcile this. Other than the cosmetic issues on the bolt I am happy with the gun.

This is a very accurate rifle and probably the flattest trajectory of any caliber that I’ve ever owned. Quality of the rifle was great also. Only downside is that the it is a relatively new cartridge that is produced exclusively by weatherby and the ammo is rather expensive. Maybe over time if it catches on more producers will make ammo for it and the cost may come down. If ammo prices aren’t an issue for you though, you won’t find a flatter shooting gun than this

Always been partial to Remington 700's myself and always had good accuracy from them, however I decided to try something different. Ordered this Weatherby Vanguard in 6.5-300 and really didn't expect anything great out of it. I must say that I was very surprised. The fit and finish was far superior to that of Remington rifles that I had purchased in recent years. The trigger on the Vanguard is really nice and has no creep whatsoever. I removed the stock and was surprised to see that it's not like those flimsy SPS stocks Remington has. You know the ones, you buy the rifle, order another stock, and throw the factory one away. This Vanguard stock was not like that at all and the finish on the barrel and action was second to none. Haven't determined the accuracy yet, my billfold hasn't recovered from the $58.00 Weatherby ammo. Only negative thing I can say is regarding Bud's. Sure, they have good prices, but then tack on layaway fees, credit/debit card fees, and taxes.

So far I'm really happy about the purchase of this Vanguard in 6.5x300 Wby. With the addition of a steel Leopold 1 pc base and Leopold scope rings, I also mounted a Vortex 3x9x40 Crossfire II with it's very generous eye-relief and all total I ended up with a rifle/scope combo of 9 lbs + plus which helps reduce felt recoil, and it all looks really nice together! For ammo I bought a box of Wby select loaded with the 140 gr Hornady Interlock and Wby select plus loaded with the 127 gr LRX all copper ballistic tip. The LRX was loaded the hottest at 3500 + fps and certainly had more felt recoil. The load with Hornady's 140 gr Interlock I believe is around 3200 fps and much easier on the shoulder. Probably gonna be a little easier on barrel life too! I like Interlock soft point bullets and a 140 gr at this velocity should do well on medium to large game out to several hundred yards! I've only shot two rounds so far, 1 of each to get on paper yesterday and to be honest my shoulder is slightly sore today, but very little. I'll be 66 yo this month and I believe and look forward to shooting and hunting with this set up thru out 2020 and beyond. I may still buy the Accu-Mark in this caliber just because I want one! But the Vanguard S2 is great too at $500 dollars and with a very nice clean trigger at about 3 lbs. It was a good match to pair it with the Vortex Crossfire! Been a fan of 6.5's for many years! I've owned the 6.5 swed and the Win 264 Mag they are great! Currently a 6.5 Creedmoor a 6.5x284 Norma and now this 6.5-300 Weatherby. Variety is the spice of life! lol
