With a fluted, and a cold-hammer-forged barrel measuring 19", the Scout is a breeze to pack out on long adventures. Outstanding Rifle!! I attached a Burris Scout scope out of the box and had initial groups around 1 inch at 100 yards!! As I have many other Steyr firearms I was quite familiar with the operation of the rifle, typical Steyr quality etc! Performance was awesome with 150-175 grain loads, very light felt recoil. On top of it was the spectacular service from Bud’s, great customer service, communication and fast shipping!! Thank You!!

Superbly accurate and reliable, excellent ergonomics for the snapshot and quick shots on game from any position with the help of a good Leupold scout scope. I tested the accuracty initially from the bench using the bipod incorporated into the forend the result was 3 shots into the same hole inspite of the heavy 3 lb trigger pull. I then tested it from standing, sitting and prone and was able to maintain a 3” group at 100 yards with Federal Gold Medal Match 175 grain (it was all the .308 I had on hand). The felt recoil was minimal due to the excellent stock design. The stock is some sort of plastic but is very stiff, not flimsy, it has a nice “grippy” texture. The 3 position safety is also of excellent design and very intuitive. The 2 stage trigger pull measured 3 lbs on my trigger scale but felt much lighter with a very crisp let off. I also loved the extra magazine that is held in the butt of the rifle, 10-11 rounds can be kept on the rifle and ready to go whenever you pick it up without fumbling in a pocket for ammo. I highly recommend this most excellent rifle, it is also a great value.

I love this rifle. I haven't sighted it in yet, but I put a Burris scout scope on it so I am sure it will do great. There's a lot of ingenuity and engineering built into this rifle. Sort of wish it I had put a regular scope on it, but oh well. Bud's supplied the price and layaway which was great on a rifle priced like these and they are worth it in my opinion. Liked it so well I bought a Steyr Scout RFR in 22 magnum.
