Ruger 8348 American Rimfire Standard Bolt 22 Long Rifle (LR) 18" 10+1 Laminate Black Stk Blued Ruger's American Rimfire Target rifle features detachable, flush-mounted 10/22 BX-1 10-round rotary magazine and accepts all 10/22 magazines, including the BX-25, BX-25x2 and BX-15. The easy-to-use 10/22-style extended magazine release provides smooth, no-fuss removal of flush-mounted magazine. This model also features a Ruger Marksman Adjustable trigger which offers a crisp release, easy-to-actuate tang safety, a cold hammer-forged target barrel with factory-installed knurled thread protector which protects the crown, and a one-piece Picatinny aluminum scope rail. The black laminate stock features an Alexander Henry forend in addition to sling swivels front and rear, and the rubber buttpad anchors the rifle at the rear. The Ruger American is one of the most accurate .22 rifles I have ever owned. It has exceeded my expectations. The rifle arrived within 5 days of ordering it. I would definitely recommend Buds Gun Shop to anyone.

I really wanted to like this rifle ... and I plan on keeping it (although I cannot recommend it) ... but it could have been so much better. It is a really nice looking rifle if you can get passed how stubby the barrel looks. The bluing is bright and shinny. The bolt functions smoothly and the 10-round magazines drop free without any snag. Accuracy is pretty good using CCI Velocitors ... but may have been much better with a longer barrel. Laminated stock is robust and attractive. But ... whoever heard of a "target" rifle with an 18" barrel? It should be at least 20". The rail on top of the receiver is not a true picatinny ... my Leupold mount would fit only one way and that was after turning the rail around. That sure limits eye-relief options. Ruger cut corners using cheap stamped (thin) metal inside ... and there were wood shavings still present when the barrel was removed. The butt pad is nice ... but does not fit flush with the stock. I really do not like bolts that lock up on the bolt handle ... no lugs. Reminds me of a much cheaper Marlin bolt-action. So if Ruger designed this rifle like a Marlin ... why is it twice the cost? I cannot recommend this rifle until some issues are addressed ... or Ruger lowers the price. I would recommend that you go with a much cheaper (same quality) Marlin.

Almost a winner... I like everything about it except that it doesn't work properly with the fifteen-round 10/22 magazines. That was one of the main reasons I bought it. I don't know whether that is typical or if mine is a lemon. Otherwise it is nice; has a crisp trigger and is accurate. If you are happy using only the ten-round mags, go for it. Otherwise, be certain the one you're looking at handles and feeds from the larger Ruger mags properly.

Winner.... Buds shipped gun to dealer in less than a week----GREAT Fit and Finish is VERY Good for this price of firearm.... Added a decent scope , bore sighted it at 25 yards-took it to 50 yard range , zeroed it in it three shoots , nickel groups of 3 at 50 yards , quarter seize groups of 5 at 100 yards ---CCI Mini-Mags . This is a VERY economical firearm for those who want to shoot good groups and have fun without the high expense , I think Ruger has a winner with this, looks great , shoots great, and won't break the bank. I would like to try the 17HMR next.....
