Savage 17779 16FCSS Bolt 308 Winchester 22" Synthetic Stainless Steel

The Weather Warrior is ready to go, even in the most unpredictable
conditions. This series has a stainless steel action and barrels that are
button-rifled and free-floating. They feature AccuTrigger with built-in
adjustability and safety, so there's no need for a gunsmith to modify it.
AccuTrigger also provides a crisp, clean trigger pull, which enhances
accuracy. FCSS models have a detachable box magazine, offering a
straight-line feed for more reliability, and the synthetic AccuStock with
cut-checkering and a dimensional pillar-bedding system that literally
squeezes the action in all dimensions. FCSS models are drilled and tapped
for scope mounts and have swivel studs.

I bought this Savage back in "15 and it has been my primary hunting rifle since. Savage is so often underrated, gotta love them for out of the box accuracy and reliability. I chose .308, mounted with a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40 duplex, great combo that has never failed me. Lots of rain and mud here in Southern Bama, never a concern for this rugged beast. I clean it after each season, new season fire 2-3 sighting/fouling shots and she is good to go.

First bolt action rifle, quilty is good with a great trigger right off the bat. I always consider Savage rifles because they are good even though I have other preferences at this point having shot Tikka, Howa, Browning, Mossberg, Ruger, Weatherby, n yes even Remington although not my favorite. Savage is a good all around rifle n would recommend this one to anyone.

I purchased the Weather Warrior for the upcoming deer season. The bolt is smooth and solid. I sighted the rifle with no problems, and it shoots lights out! I am very pleased with Savage rifles! Truly the definition of accuracy!!

The rifle is very nice. It has a very solid feel, especially for a synthetic stock. The magazine is all metal, which is a major improvement over the mostly plastic magazines found in cheaper Savage models. The magazine feeds reliably and the action is very smooth. Ejection of spent brass is very positive. The Accutrigger and Accustock make a nice pair. I have fired about 120 rounds through the rifle so far, and I am a big fan of it. The recoil is pretty mild. I can shoot sub 1" groups at 100 yards and ring an 8" steel gong at 300 yards with every shot. It will make a fine hunting rifle. The rifle seems to like Federal Gold Medal Match, 168 grain. I was a little annoyed when I got the rifle home. The bolt was removed from the gun and stored in a separate bag. When I tried to put the bolt in the action, it would not fit. I did some research and realized the bolt was shipped in the cocked position and would not fit back into the action until it was de-cocked. Not a huge deal, just annoying. The first thing you want to do when you buy a new bolt action is cycle the bolt and feel how smooth it is, and the fact that I couldn't do this, and had to first learn how to de-cock the bolt (which takes some strength and some tools) was annoying. I was not expecting that. The rifle should have been ready to go when it was shipped. The manual was not very helpful so I had to do my own research. Other than that, I am very satisfied with the rifle and the transaction from Buds. The rifle was delivered to my FFL only 3 days after my order. I will certainly do business with them again.

A great new rifle for me. It arrived in perfect condition and is a pleasure to shoot. My first actual 3 shot group at 100 yards using Hornady ELD Match ammo measured 1/2" across centers.
