I've had this pistol for about 2 months now, put roughly 700 rounds through it, give or take a few. Very very impressed with the whole kit. Out of that 700 rounds I have only had 5 failure to anythings. And all that was because I found the worst ammo I could that was in the bottom of my shooting bag. So I'm not counting those. It is very accurate and consistent once you figure out where it hits, it took me a bit to figure it out, grated I'm not much of a shot with a pistol. There is a bit of play in the slide and barrel, but it doesn't seem to effect it. All the reviews I read and watched said it was very hard to change barrels or re-assemble the pistol after cleaning. I found that to be false as long as you follow instructions and use the barrel to contain the spring. I will say all of the safety mechanisms are quite annoying. I have done all the modifications to get rid of them though. There is plenty of info on that though. The included cleaning kit is very nice. The lubricant included is ok. But I started using gunslick that I had in an old cleaning kit. Overall can't beat this pistol and I am very impressed.

Great little gun for the money. Tried it on the range and was right on. Thank you for the great service.

Great service from buds. The gun has some real heft to it and seems very sturdy. Safety features are a bit obnoxious, but everything functions flawlessly and the gun comes with a mail-in lifetime warranty from Phoenix.
I would recommend anyone in need of a good plinker to pick up one of these.

This gun required a bit of oil for it to function properly as the slid was very binding and dry. distinct metal on metal sound before oiling. after it was very smooth however the reassembly is a bit tricky but doable once you get the hang of it. Its a pretty heavy pistol for its size but the feel in your hand is pretty good. the kit gave a allot of extras like a cleaning kit the extra mag and the 6 and 3 inch barrels. Nice heavy case with lock as well.

I bought this kit a few weeks ago. Both myself and my wife love it.
With over 300 rounds of standard velocity ammo thru it, it has performed flawlessly.
It has almost no recoil and is capable of nice tight groups.
I especially like the 5" barrel at the range & I exchange the barrels often.
Break-down & barrel changing took some study but now is easy & can be done in seconds.
The safety system took some figuring out but we are now very comfortable with it.
My wife is a small woman but has no problem cocking this gun.
She loves firing this piece due to the smooth easy trigger pull & light recoil.
The 3" barrel makes it easy to conceal/carry & 10 22LR rounds should be enough to defend oneself.

I purchased two of the HP22A's, one the Deluxe kit and one with only the three inch barrel. Between the two I have had absolutely no FTE's and only a few FTF's which was due to some really old ammunition. Accuracy is decent for a piece with a three inch barrel, and with the kit and changing out to the five inch barrel it did not improve very much. I purchased these with the intent to use them as a concealed carry, I don't think they will work for that as I am not comfortable carrying with an empty chamber, and the hammer is too small to quickly cock to fire if you have a round in the chamber. Maybe the sound of the slide racking would be enough to deter all but the deranged or the really determined. I went with two because I had intended to give one to my wife, but her hand strength is not good and she cannot rack the slide. She really enjoyed shooting it, and her self defense distance shooting was very good. All that being said they are decent firearms for the price and are enjoyable to punch holes in paper. Safeties will drive you crazy, and the hammer block is so hard to move that I have to use the base of a magazine to put back in the fire position. Taking them down and reassembly are not difficult although as has been mentioned the spring will tend to launch if you don't pay attention. After putting over five hundred rounds through them as I said before they are fun to shoot.

Not being a "Gun Snob or Name Dropper" I admit I really like this gun. No, I love this gun. I have other "big brand name" guns but this little cheapie is great. It provides simple shooting pleasure at an affordable price for both gun and ammo. You aim the pistol, you hit the target all day long at a low price 'cause it's a .22.

The gun is also reliable - not a hick-up in over 500 rounds. It is selling at a bargain price. It looks nice, sort of like a classic auto you see in the movies. It's also just plain fun to shoot (with good ear protection, it's kind of loud - part of it's charm). And it's well finished for this selling price. Phoenix Arms has improved this gun over time. Thanks.

Bud's provides a safe fast buying experience. Great combo.....need I say more?

This is my second Phoenix Rangemaster Deluxe Kit. Now I have both the blue/black and a satin nickel finish setup and I interchange the sliides for a unique look. The 5" barrel makes this little concealed carry 22lr into a whole different target pistol. The Deluxe kit is the best deal of the Phoenix options.

This was my first experience with Buds. The transaction went through without any problems whatsoever, in fact the firearm was delivered a day early! I'm not so sure about the firearm yet (Phoenix .22) as I took it to the range and shot 100 rounds out of the box and had many failure to load and mag safety was sticking, maybe just needs to break in (not Buds fault). I am very confident in Buds work and would not hesitate to order there again! Thanks.

This was my first purchase from Buds. I had a great experience and am very likely to use for future firearm purchases.

I have been hitting the range at least twice a month for the last several months and these trips have gotten to be quite expensive. Prior to my purchase of the HP22a Rangemaster Kit, I had been splitting my range time between a Smith and Wesson Model 19-5 .357 Combat Magnum and an Interarms Walther PPK .380ACP. My trips were starting to cost close to $100 a pop and I needed a change. That's why I started looking for a fun .22.

I placed my order on Friday and the gun arrived today (Thursday). The process would have been faster had Memorial Day not been this week!

My initial impression of the Kit was positive. The gun comes with the 5" barrel installed and it has a good weight and feel. I went straight from the FFL to the range to put the HP22a through its paces. The folks at the range were surprised by the look, feel, and price of the kit. For $188, you get two guns. Everyone thought that was pretty cool.

The gun is heavy, for its size, and pretty accurate. I put 150 rounds down range right out the box. The safeties were a bit stiff at first, and it takes some getting used to having to move the gun to safe, eject the magazine, insert a new magazine, and then switch back to fire before you can rack the side and go to town...but that's not a deal breaker. There was a lot of oil on the gun straight from the kit. You are going to want to give it a decent wipe down, at the very least, before you go shooting.

I had a few FTF's and 1 FTE...which I attribute to the cheap nasty ammo that I was using. Other than that, this little gun was good to go.

When I got home, I broke it down, cleaned it, and switched out the 5" barrel for the 3" barrel. The takedown was pretty easy..putting it back together, however, presented quite a challenge. The issue is with the recoil spring. It has a tendency to try to launch itself across the room. Be warned, that's an evil little spring. All in all, it took me no more than 15 minutes for the breakdown and reassembly. So just have some patience and you'll be fine.

The gun feels good, looks good, and shoots surprisingly well. I'm very pleased with this purchase and plan on heading back out at the range tomorrow to try it out with the 3" barrel!
